DePuy Synthes, the orthopedic technology business of Johnson & Johnson, is showcasing a new portfolio of trauma care innovations at the 2026 Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) Annual Meeting in Nashville. The company is highlighting advances spanning fracture fixation, connected limb reconstruction, AI-assisted surgery, procedural solutions, and digital healthcare analytics. The technologies being presented include four new VOLT™ plating systems, the MAXFRAME AUTOSTRUT™ with Bluetooth® Multi-Axial Correction System, VELYS™ Trauma AI-Assisted Surgery enabling technology, and an expanded portfolio of procedural solutions for trauma care.
VOLT Platform Expands Fracture Fixation Options
DePuy Synthes is introducing four new plating systems within its VOLTâ„¢ (Variable Angle Optimized Locking Technology) platform, expanding the company’s fracture fixation portfolio across the ankle, knee, and shoulder. The VOLT platform incorporates the company’s proprietary MOSAICâ„¢ technology, which uses CT-derived anatomical data and machine learning to help inform implant shape and fit across different patient anatomies. The new systems are designed to address common and clinically challenging fracture procedures while expanding the range of anatomical locations supported by the platform. The company’s approach combines established orthopedic fixation technology with data-driven implant design, reflecting the increasing use of computational tools and patient-anatomy data in medical-device development. By incorporating anatomical information into implant design, DePuy Synthes is seeking to support surgeons managing complex fractures across different areas of the skeleton. The company said its latest VOLT offerings will further expand its anatomic plating portfolio for trauma procedures.
Connected Technology Advances Limb Reconstruction
Another featured innovation is the MAXFRAME AUTOSTRUT™ with Bluetooth® Multi-Axial Correction System, which is now commercially available in the United States. The system combines automated device adjustments, digital treatment planning, Bluetooth connectivity, remote monitoring, and treatment management for complex limb reconstruction. According to DePuy Synthes, the technology is designed to provide surgeons with greater visibility into treatment progress while reducing the need for manual strut adjustments. The connected system represents an expansion of digital capabilities within orthopedic trauma care. Its optional mobile connectivity allows treatment information to be accessed remotely, while automated adjustments are intended to support the correction process. DePuy Synthes states that the system is designed to connect treatment planning, automation, and mobile technology within a single limb-reconstruction workflow.
AI-Assisted Surgery Planned for Fracture Care
DePuy Synthes is also showcasing VELYSâ„¢ Trauma AI-Assisted Surgery, a new enabling technology planned for launch in the United States in 2027. The technology is designed to provide intraoperative surgical guidance and fracture-reduction assistance, using three-dimensional guidance without trackers or reference bodies. The company describes the system as an AI-enabled approach intended to support surgeons during fracture procedures. The planned technology reflects the growing integration of artificial intelligence, three-dimensional visualization, and digital surgical guidance into orthopedic procedures. Its development is part of DePuy Synthes’ broader VELYS digital surgery portfolio, which aims to provide technology-assisted workflows for surgeons. The company has indicated that the system is planned for U.S. launch in 2027, meaning its future availability remains subject to applicable regulatory and commercial requirements.
Expanded Trauma Portfolio Supports Surgical Workflows
In addition to its fracture fixation and digital technologies, DePuy Synthes is presenting an expanded portfolio of procedural and soft-tissue solutions for trauma surgery. Products being highlighted include DYNACORDâ„¢, GRYPHONâ„¢, SUPERHAWKâ„¢, and HEALIX Anchorâ„¢ technologies, alongside the company’s biologics portfolio. The company says these offerings are intended to support different stages of the trauma-surgery workflow. DePuy Synthes will also demonstrate its SOURCEVIEWâ„¢ Analytics Platform, adding data and analytics capabilities to the company’s trauma portfolio. Together, the technologies being presented at OTA 2026 illustrate the company’s focus on combining orthopedic implants, connected devices, AI-assisted surgical guidance, and digital analytics within trauma care. The innovations are being showcased at the OTA Annual Meeting in Nashville, giving orthopedic specialists an opportunity to review the company’s latest technologies for fracture fixation and complex limb reconstruction.
