TÜBINGEN, Germany — September 23, 2026
ViferaXS GmbH announced the close of a Series A financing round of up to €12 million, including grant funding, led by the German Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation (SPRIND) and Huma, with participation from private investors. The financing will support the company’s lead program, CLLTAXS01, as it advances into a randomized Phase II clinical trial in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The proceeds will also support ongoing Phase I programs in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and fibrolamellar carcinoma (FLC), as well as additional preclinical programs and expansion of the company’s team.
CLLTAXS01 Advances Toward Randomized Phase II
The financing will primarily fund a Phase II study of CLLTAXS01 in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, following what ViferaXS described as encouraging early clinical data. The company is developing CLLTAXS01 as a peptide-based cancer immunotherapy intended to activate cytotoxic T cells against naturally presented tumor antigens. The upcoming randomized Phase II study is intended to provide additional clinical evidence for the approach in CLL. The company has not disclosed detailed Phase II efficacy results, and the early clinical observations cited in the financing announcement should not be interpreted as establishing efficacy.
Peptide-Based T Cell Activator Platform Expands Oncology Pipeline
ViferaXS is developing a proprietary T Cell Activator technology designed to stimulate cytotoxic T-cell responses against tumor-associated antigens. The company’s clinical pipeline currently spans three cancer indications: CLL, AML and FLC. In addition to advancing CLLTAXS01 into Phase II, the financing will support ongoing Phase I programs in AML and FLC, with the company expecting to report clinical data from those programs. ViferaXS is also using the financing to continue preclinical research in additional indications, expanding the potential application of its peptide-based immunotherapy platform across hematologic malignancies and solid tumors.
SPRIND and Huma Support Clinical Development Strategy
The Series A financing brings together government-backed innovation funding, private investment and clinical technology expertise to support ViferaXS’ development strategy. SPRIND, which is owned by the Federal Republic of Germany, supports high-ambition innovations with potential societal and economic impact, while Huma combines investment with technology capabilities for clinical trials and regulated healthcare applications. ViferaXS was established as a spin-out of Eberhard Karls University Tübingen and is developing its pipeline from its base in Tübingen, Germany. The new financing provides resources for the company’s transition of CLLTAXS01 into Phase II while maintaining clinical development activities in AML and FLC and expanding its broader oncology research pipeline.
