Waters Corporation has announced the global commercial launch of the BD FACSDiscover™ A7 Cell Analyzer, a new spectral flow cytometry platform designed to improve experimental standardization, data consistency, and accessibility for researchers working in life sciences. The system combines advanced spectral resolution and sensitivity with automated quality-control capabilities, guided software workflows, and an integrated autoloader. According to Waters, the instrument is intended to support researchers in academia, pharmaceutical laboratories, and contract research organizations (CROs), with applications ranging from immunology research and biomarker discovery to drug development.
Advanced Spectral Technology Expands Cell Analysis
The BD FACSDiscover A7 Cell Analyzer incorporates BD SpectralFX™ Technology, previously available in the flagship BD FACSDiscover A8 Cell Analyzer. The technology enables researchers to examine more than 50 characteristics of an individual cell, providing a broad analytical palette for complex biological investigations. The platform is designed to support high-parameter experiments while maintaining sensitivity and consistency across measurements. According to company data, the analyzer achieved a coefficient of variation below 10% across more than 50 dyes, supporting the company’s focus on reproducibility in high-parameter flow cytometry. The platform also integrates BD FACSChorus™ Software, which provides guided workflows intended to help both experienced and newer users perform experiments more efficiently. Together with the integrated autoloader, these features are designed to streamline laboratory workflows and shorten the time between sample analysis and scientific insight.

The commercial launch comes as laboratories increasingly require reproducible, high-dimensional cellular data for research and therapeutic development.
