PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — September 17, 2026
Treace Medical Concepts announced clinical results from three studies evaluating its Lapiplasty®, Adductoplasty® and SpeedPlate® technologies at the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) Annual Meeting in Seattle. The studies included the milestone five-year ALIGN3D® Lapiplasty clinical analysis, two-year interim data from the MTA3D® Adductoplasty study and one-year results from the SPRINT™ SpeedPlate® observational study. Treace said the findings add prospective clinical evidence regarding radiographic correction, patient-reported outcomes, healing and early weight-bearing following surgical treatment of bunions and other foot and ankle conditions.
ALIGN3D Study Shows Sustained Outcomes Through Five Years
The final five-year ALIGN3D analysis included 137 of 173 enrolled patients who underwent the Lapiplasty Procedure for symptomatic hallux valgus. Patients returned to weight bearing in a walking boot at an average of 8.4 days, while radiographic recurrence at five years was 0.8% using an HVA threshold greater than 20 degrees and 5.3% using an HVA threshold greater than 15 degrees. Patient-reported measures, including the Manchester-Oxford Foot Questionnaire (MOxFQ) and PROMIS scores, also showed clinically significant improvements through five years. The prospective multicenter post-market study was designed to evaluate three-dimensional correction of hallux valgus, maintenance of alignment following early weight bearing and clinical and radiographic outcomes over time.
MTA3D and SpeedPlate Studies Add Clinical Evidence
The MTA3D study evaluated combined Adductoplasty and Lapiplasty procedures in patients requiring correction of metatarsus adductus and hallux valgus. Interim analyses included 59 of 66 patients with at least one year of follow-up and 35 with at least two years. Patients began weight bearing in a walking boot at an average of 7.6 days, while radiographic measures of both midfoot deformity and three-dimensional bunion correction improved and were maintained through 24 months. The SPRINT SpeedPlate observational study included 89 of 91 treated patients at one year following MTP and/or TMT joint arthrodesis. Patients returned to weight bearing at an average of 9.0 days, and clinical and radiographic healing was reported in 96.6% of patients at 12 months, with improvements in HVA, IMA, TSP and osseous foot width maintained through one year.
Treace Expands Evidence Base for Foot and Ankle Technologies
The three clinical studies provide Treace with data spanning one to five years across its surgical technology portfolio, supporting continued evaluation of correction durability, early weight bearing and patient-reported outcomes. The ALIGN3D study enrolled 173 patients across seven U.S. clinical sites and 13 surgeons, while MTA3D treated up to 66 patients across seven sites and the SPRINT study followed 91 patients across five sites. Treace is using the clinical evidence to support its portfolio of technologies for bunion and foot and ankle surgery, including Lapiplasty 3D Bunion Correction, Adductoplasty Midfoot Correction and SpeedPlate Rapid Compression Implants. Additional details from the studies, including patient characteristics, eligibility criteria and reported complications, are expected to be made available following the AOFAS presentations.
