San Jose, California, United States, November 4, 2026
Evident Vascular, Inc. has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted 510(k) clearance for its Evident Vascular Guidance System and Evident peripheral imaging catheters, marking an important milestone in the development of next-generation intravascular ultrasound technology. The platform is designed to support high-fidelity vascular imaging, AI-enabled image processing and streamlined procedural workflows during peripheral vascular interventions. By combining advanced imaging architecture, proprietary Dynamic Frequency Control (DFCâ„¢) technology, hands-free voice control and plug-and-play catheters, the company aims to help physicians visualize blood vessel structures with greater clarity during minimally invasive procedures. The clearance provides an important regulatory milestone for Evident Vascular as it advances its technology platform for vascular specialists and interventional physicians. However, the company confirmed that the system and catheters are not yet available for sale in the United States or other markets.
FDA Clears Evident Vascular Guidance System
The FDA 510(k) clearance covers the Evident Vascular Guidance System and Evident peripheral imaging catheters. The system is intended for ultrasound examination of intravascular pathology during peripheral vascular interventions. Intravascular ultrasound, commonly known as IVUS, is an imaging technique that uses a miniature ultrasound transducer attached to a catheter to generate detailed images from inside a blood vessel. Unlike conventional external ultrasound imaging, IVUS provides cross-sectional views of the vessel wall and surrounding structures. Physicians can use these images to assess vessel dimensions, understand vascular disease and support decisions during procedures involving balloon angioplasty and stent placement. Evident Vascular’s platform is designed to improve the imaging experience through a combination of advanced transducer engineering, broad frequency bandwidth and sophisticated signal processing. Its proprietary DFC technology uses dynamic frequency control to optimize imaging across different vessel sizes and imaging depths. This whole-system approach is intended to balance image resolution and penetration rather than relying solely on ultrasound center frequency. The system also incorporates flushless, plug-and-play peripheral imaging catheters, an intuitive user interface and hands-free voice control. These features are designed to simplify equipment operation and support procedural efficiency while physicians perform vascular interventions.
AI and Advanced Imaging Strengthen IVUS Technology
A key feature of the Evident platform is its integration of artificial intelligence and real-time image processing. The system combines custom imaging electronics with NVIDIA accelerated computing, supporting computationally intensive image processing directly within the imaging workstation. Evident Vascular is also a member of the NVIDIA Inception program, which supports startups developing advanced technology solutions. Its proprietary AI workstation and software architecture are designed to provide a foundation for expanding AI capabilities as clinical experience and imaging data accumulate. According to the company, the platform’s high-fidelity imaging architecture is intended to deliver consistent vessel-edge clarity across different imaging conditions. This may help physicians assess vessel measurements, consider treatment options and evaluate procedural results using detailed intravascular images. Eric A. Secemsky, Director of Vascular Intervention at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, highlighted the image clarity and consistency of the platform. He noted that its ability to optimize resolution and penetration across vessel sizes and imaging depths could provide useful information during vascular procedures. Importantly, the current announcement concerns FDA clearance of the imaging system and catheters. It should not be interpreted as clearance of every future AI feature or as authorization for autonomous diagnosis or treatment recommendations. Evident plans to expand its AI capabilities through further development and regulatory submissions.
Evident Vascular Advances Precision Imaging Strategy
The FDA clearance represents a significant step in Evident Vascular’s broader strategy to advance precision-guided peripheral vascular interventions. Peripheral artery disease and other vascular conditions can restrict blood flow and require minimally invasive procedures to restore circulation. High-quality intravascular imaging can provide physicians with additional anatomical information when planning and performing these interventions. The company aims to combine imaging quality with an intuitive operating environment to support physicians throughout vascular procedures. Its longer-term development strategy includes using accumulated imaging data and clinical experience to introduce additional software capabilities that may improve image interpretation and procedural workflows. Howard Rosen, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Evident Vascular, described the FDA clearance as an important milestone for the company and its physician collaborators. The company also indicated that the regulatory milestone establishes a foundation for future submissions supporting its broader technology roadmap. Overall, Evident Vascular’s FDA 510(k) clearance marks an important development in AI-enabled intravascular ultrasound technology. The combination of high-fidelity imaging, advanced signal processing and streamlined catheter workflows could support vascular specialists during peripheral interventions. Future clinical experience, additional regulatory clearances and commercial availability will determine the platform’s wider impact on vascular imaging practice.
