Rancho Cordova, California, U.S., September 30, 2026
SK pharmteco has announced a five-year investment of more than $200 million in the United States to expand and modernize its development and manufacturing infrastructure for small molecules and peptides, strengthening domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities and supporting the growing demand for complex therapies. The investment represents a major step in the company’s broader strategy to build a more resilient pharmaceutical supply chain while providing biopharmaceutical customers with expanded development, manufacturing, and commercialization capabilities. As a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), SK pharmteco supports pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies across multiple stages of drug development.
Expanding Small-Molecule and Peptide Manufacturing
The new U.S. investment will target several critical areas of pharmaceutical development and GMP manufacturing. SK pharmteco plans to launch new, fully operational development laboratories designed to accelerate small-molecule and peptide programs from early-stage development through late-stage development. The company also intends to construct new manufacturing suites and modernize existing GMP infrastructure to address increasing demand for small-molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). These investments are expected to improve manufacturing flexibility and strengthen the company’s ability to support customers as drug candidates progress toward commercialization. A major component of the program is the expansion of peptide manufacturing and purification capacity. SK pharmteco plans to add new GMP kilo-scale peptide manufacturing capacity, scheduled to become operational in late 2026, together with advanced liquid chromatography capabilities. Peptide purification can represent an important challenge during development and scale-up, making additional domestic capabilities valuable for pharmaceutical companies seeking reliable manufacturing partners. The company’s investment is therefore positioned to strengthen the connection between peptide process development, manufacturing scale-up, and commercial supply.
Building a More Resilient U.S. Pharmaceutical Supply Chain
Beyond manufacturing capacity, the investment will support utility upgrades, logistics infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and green technologies. SK pharmteco said these improvements are intended to create sustainable and highly efficient operations while strengthening the reliability of its U.S. manufacturing network. The initiative is expected to create approximately 100 long-term, high-skilled jobs in the United States, contributing to the development of domestic expertise in API, peptide, and advanced-therapy supply. The U.S. program also builds on SK pharmteco’s broader global expansion strategy. The company recently invested in its California operations to increase peptide development capabilities and has expanded manufacturing infrastructure in Ireland. In addition, SK pharmteco previously announced a $260 million expansion in South Korea focused on increasing global small-molecule and peptide production. Together, these investments reflect the company’s effort to establish a broader manufacturing network capable of supporting pharmaceutical customers across development and commercial production.
Strengthening CDMO Support for Biopharma Innovation
SK pharmteco’s latest investment highlights the increasing importance of specialized CDMO capacity as pharmaceutical companies advance increasingly complex pipelines. The company’s capabilities span small molecules, peptides, and viral vectors, supported by production facilities, research and development operations, and analytical laboratories across the United States, Europe, and South Korea. By expanding U.S. infrastructure, SK pharmteco aims to provide biopharmaceutical customers with greater manufacturing capacity and a more reliable path from drug development to full commercialization.
The more than $200 million U.S. investment underscores the continuing expansion of domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing and the growing demand for flexible, GMP-compliant infrastructure. With new development laboratories, peptide purification capabilities, upgraded manufacturing suites, and investments in sustainability and digital infrastructure, SK pharmteco is positioning its U.S. operations to support the next generation of small-molecule and peptide medicines while strengthening the resilience of the pharmaceutical supply chain.
