THE WOODLANDS, Texas — October 2, 2026
Autonomix Medical, Inc. announced that the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) has issued Canadian Patent No. 3,183,802 covering technologies for transvascular access, treatment delivery and real-time procedural validation involving tissues and nerves beyond a blood vessel wall. The patent, titled “Systems, Methods, and Devices for Monitoring and Treatment of Tissues Within and/or Through a Lumen Wall,” expands Autonomix’s global intellectual property portfolio to 112 issued or pending patent applications worldwide. The newly issued Canadian patent strengthens protection for the company’s catheter-based platform and its potential application across multiple nerve-targeted therapies and denervation procedures. Related patents covering aspects of the technology have also been issued in the United States and Europe, giving Autonomix broader intellectual property coverage across major commercial markets.
Patent Enables Precision Transvascular Intervention
The new patent covers catheter-based systems designed to access tissues and nerves outside a blood vessel through a transvascular approach. The technology uses deployable probes that can penetrate into or through the lumen wall while operating from within the vessel. The patent also covers multi-site electrophysiological sensing, including measurements from target, secondary and reference sites intended to improve signal quality and procedural confidence. By combining catheter-based access with physiological sensing, the platform is designed to provide physicians with information that can help guide nerve-targeted interventions. The intellectual property also encompasses methods for evaluating whether a procedure has achieved its intended effect by analyzing changes in neural activity patterns, potentially allowing procedural outcomes to be assessed using objective electrophysiological signals rather than relying solely on conventional procedural indicators.
Closed-Loop Feedback Supports Adaptive Treatment
Autonomix’s patent protection also extends to closed-loop control and real-time therapeutic optimization. The covered systems can use live electrophysiological feedback to adjust stimulation or therapeutic energy delivery during a procedure, supporting adaptive neuromodulation and data-driven treatment workflows. The patent encompasses a broad range of electrophysiological signals and therapeutic modalities, while system-level claims cover control units configured to evaluate, guide and optimize procedures using real-time physiological information. This combination of sensing, treatment delivery and procedural validation is intended to strengthen the platform’s ability to provide precision nerve-targeted therapy. Autonomix said the technology could potentially support multiple nerve-targeted indications, expanding the relevance of the intellectual property beyond a single therapeutic application and supporting the company’s broader strategy for catheter-based interventions.
Autonomix Builds Global Nerve Therapy Platform
The Canadian patent adds to Autonomix’s broader intellectual property strategy covering nerve mapping, signal processing and controlled micro-ablation technologies. The company said its portfolio includes patents and pending applications across the United States, Canada, Europe and other international jurisdictions, with some patent expirations extending into the late 2030s. Autonomix is initially developing its platform for pain treatment, including clinical studies focused on pancreatic cancer-associated pain, while also identifying potential applications in areas such as cardiology, hypertension and chronic pain management. The company’s first-in-class platform incorporates a catheter-based microchip sensing array designed to detect and differentiate neural signals with high sensitivity and enable transvascular diagnosis and treatment of peripheral nervous system diseases. As the company continues developing its investigational technology, the newly issued Canadian patent strengthens protection around the core capabilities needed for nerve mapping, targeted treatment delivery and real-time procedural assessment across multiple potential clinical applications.
