Pfizer Inc. and Innovent Biologics have announced a landmark global strategic licensing and collaboration agreement aimed at accelerating the development of next-generation cancer therapies. The partnership covers 12 innovative oncology programs, including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and multispecific antibodies, and carries a potential value exceeding US$10.5 billion, including upfront and milestone payments. The portfolio includes promising antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) featuring novel payload technologies as well as advanced multispecific immune-engaging antibodies designed to activate the immune system against cancer through differentiated mechanisms.
Under the agreement, Innovent will leverage its proprietary research platform and early clinical development capabilities to advance the programs through Phase 1 clinical development, after which Pfizer will assume responsibility for later-stage global development activities. Pfizer will obtain exclusive global rights to four programs and exclusive rights outside Greater China for another four programs. For four additional candidates, the companies will pursue a co-development and co-commercialization strategy, sharing development costs and future profits in the United States and Europe, while Innovent retains rights in Greater China.
This flexible framework enables both organizations to maximize scientific and commercial opportunities while sharing development risk. The arrangement also provides Innovent with increased participation in global markets and strengthens its long-term international growth strategy. The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
