BRISBANE, Calif. — October 5, 2026
Nurix Therapeutics, Inc. announced that it and Gilead Sciences have agreed to extend the research term for an undisclosed oncology program under their strategic collaboration by an additional two years. This marks the second two-year extension for the program and builds on a collaboration originally established in 2019 to discover and develop medicines based on targeted protein degradation.
Collaboration Advances Targeted Protein Degradation Medicines
Under the collaboration, Nurix uses its proprietary drug discovery platform and E3 ligase expertise to identify novel medicines designed to selectively degrade disease-driving proteins. Gilead has the option to license drug candidates generated through the collaboration, while Nurix retains options for 50/50 co-development, commercialization and profit-and-loss sharing on up to two programs in the United States, subject to certain restrictions. The collaboration has already produced GS-6791 (NX-0479), an oral IRAK4 degrader discovered by Nurix that has advanced into Phase 1 clinical development.
Extension Generates Additional Financial Opportunity
As part of the amended agreement, Nurix will receive a $10 million research term extension fee from Gilead. As of May 31, 2026, Nurix remained eligible for approximately $1.3 billion in potential additional payments, including fees, milestone payments and payments tied to successful preclinical, clinical, development and sales achievements. Nurix is also eligible for tiered royalties ranging from the mid-single digits to low teens on annual net sales of commercial products resulting from the collaboration.
Nurix Expands Degrader Pipeline Across Oncology and Immunology
The extended research term strengthens Nurix’s broader strategy of developing targeted protein degradation medicines for cancer and autoimmune diseases. Its clinical-stage pipeline includes bexobrutideg, a BTK degrader being co-developed with Roche, and NX-1607, an inhibitor of CBL-B designed to regulate immune-cell activation. Nurix is also advancing IRAK4 degraders with Gilead and STAT6 degraders with Sanofi, alongside additional wholly owned and partnered preclinical programs. The latest two-year extension provides further validation of Nurix’s targeted protein degradation platform while giving the company additional time to identify and advance potential oncology drug candidates with Gilead.
