Lupin Limited and Tenpoint Therapeutics have announced a strategic partnership to expand access to YUVEZZI™ (carbachol and brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution) 2.75%/0.1% across major European markets. Under an exclusive licensing agreement, VISUfarma B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Lupin, will receive rights covering regulatory activities, commercialization, marketing, promotion, distribution, and sale of YUVEZZI in the European Union, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland. The agreement strengthens Lupin’s specialty-care and ophthalmology portfolio while supporting Tenpoint’s international commercialization strategy for its once-daily dual-agent therapy for presbyopia.
Lupin Strengthens Specialty Ophthalmology Portfolio
The partnership provides VISUfarma with exclusive rights to commercialize YUVEZZI across the licensed European territories, subject to applicable regulatory requirements and approvals. YUVEZZI is a once-daily ophthalmic therapy combining carbachol and brimonidine tartrate, two active ingredients designed to improve near-vision performance in adults with presbyopia. The product has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and represents a differentiated approach to addressing age-related near-vision impairment. Presbyopia is associated with the gradual loss of the eye’s ability to focus on nearby objects and typically becomes noticeable in adulthood. Lupin said adding YUVEZZI to its ophthalmology portfolio supports its broader Specialty Care strategy and expands its presence in key European eye-care markets. The agreement also includes a strategic investment by VISUfarma in Visus Therapeutics, while Tenpoint and Visus may receive regulatory and commercial milestone payments as well as tiered royalties based on net sales.
YUVEZZI Targets Significant Presbyopia Need
YUVEZZI is the first and only approved once-daily dual-agent eye drop for presbyopia, according to the companies. Its two active ingredients are designed to work together to improve near vision. Carbachol helps constrict the pupil, which can increase depth of focus for close-up vision, while brimonidine helps limit excessive pupil dilation. Tenpoint is advancing the commercialization of YUVEZZI in the United States following its recent FDA approval and is pursuing regulatory expansion into additional markets. The company has already submitted a marketing authorization application in the United Kingdom through the MHRA International Recognition Procedure, supporting its plans to establish the therapy in the European region. With presbyopia affecting a large and growing global population, the companies believe the therapy could address an important unmet need in ophthalmic care. The partnership brings together Tenpoint’s ophthalmic pharmaceutical development and commercialization capabilities with Lupin and VISUfarma’s established European commercial infrastructure and eye-care expertise.
Partnership Supports European Regulatory Expansion
The strategic collaboration is expected to help accelerate the pathway for YUVEZZI across the licensed territories, subject to regulatory review and authorization in each applicable market. For Lupin, the agreement builds on its investment in specialty ophthalmology and strengthens its ability to introduce differentiated therapies to patients across Europe. For Tenpoint, the deal represents another step in its strategy of establishing regional partnerships to expand the global reach of YUVEZZI. The companies will work toward regulatory activities and eventual commercialization across the European Union, UK, Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland. The partnership also reflects the increasing importance of innovative ophthalmic pharmaceuticals in addressing age-related vision conditions and improving patient quality of life. As regulatory processes progress, the collaboration could expand access to a new pharmacological option for adults experiencing presbyopia while strengthening the commercial position of both companies in the global eye-care market. The agreement therefore represents a significant pharmaceutical licensing and commercialization milestone and reinforces Lupin’s continued focus on differentiated specialty medicines and ophthalmology.
