PRINCETON, New Jersey, August 20, 2026
UroGen Pharma Ltd. announced a strategic collaboration and investment agreement with IntraGel Therapeutics, Ltd. to access the company’s proprietary SRGel biodegradable sustained-release drug delivery platform and expand UroGen’s oncology pipeline. The agreement provides UroGen with a research license and exclusive options to license and develop up to three oncology products using SRGel technology with compounds selected by UroGen. The collaboration also gives UroGen an exclusive option to obtain worldwide development and commercialization rights for TumoCure, IntraGel’s investigational therapy for advanced head and neck cancer, following completion of its Phase 2 clinical study. The transaction strengthens UroGen’s focus on localized cancer treatment and sustained drug delivery, while adding potential new oncology programs to its development portfolio.
UroGen Gains Access to IntraGel SRGel Platform
The central element of the agreement is access to SRGel, IntraGel’s proprietary injectable biodegradable depot technology designed to provide prolonged local drug release directly within solid tumors. The platform uses a water-free and solvent-free fatty-acid-based polymer matrix intended to maintain therapeutic exposure at the treatment site following a single administration while limiting systemic exposure. Under the collaboration, UroGen will have the opportunity to select compounds for combination with SRGel and potentially develop three additional oncology products under exclusive worldwide licenses. The platform is designed to accommodate different therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, peptides and biologics, creating potential applications across multiple solid tumor settings. For UroGen, the agreement directly complements its existing expertise in localized drug delivery and sustained-release technologies for cancer treatment.
UroGen Adds Option for TumoCure Development
The agreement also provides UroGen with an exclusive option to license and commercialize TumoCure, IntraGel’s lead investigational product and first clinical application of the SRGel platform. TumoCure combines cisplatin with the biodegradable SRGel matrix and is administered as a single intratumoral injection. The formulation is designed to provide sustained exposure to cisplatin within tumor tissue over an extended period while reducing systemic exposure. TumoCure is currently being developed for patients with locally advanced, inoperable head and neck cancer who are not eligible for systemic cisplatin-based chemoradiation. The program is Phase 2-ready and is being pursued through the FDA 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway. UroGen’s option becomes relevant following IntraGel’s completion of a Phase 2 clinical study, giving UroGen potential access to another localized oncology program without immediately assuming full development ownership.
UroGen Invests Up to $7 Million in IntraGel
Alongside the collaboration, UroGen has agreed to invest up to $7 million in equity securities of IntraGel, providing financial support for advancement of the SRGel platform and TumoCure. Early clinical findings presented at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting included data from eight patients treated with TumoCure in a Phase 1b study. The therapy was generally well tolerated, showed low systemic cisplatin exposure, and produced early indications of anti-tumor activity in a heavily pretreated population, including patients with cisplatin-resistant disease. Investigators also reported improvements in certain tumor-related symptoms. While these early findings remain limited by the small patient population and require validation in larger clinical studies, they provide the initial clinical foundation for continued development of TumoCure and the broader SRGel localized drug-delivery platform. The collaboration therefore represents a strategic expansion of UroGen’s oncology capabilities, combining its experience in local sustained-release therapies with IntraGel’s tumor-targeted delivery technology.
