NEW YORK and ATHENS, Greece, June 13, 2026
Kos Biotechnology Partners has announced the successful third closing of its inaugural Global Life Sciences Fund, bringing total capital commitments to $123 million (€106 million) and marking a major milestone for the European life sciences investment landscape. The fund, which launched in December 2025, has attracted support from leading institutional investors, global family offices, and the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (HDBI) as its lead investor. As the first life sciences-dedicated venture capital fund in Greece, Kos has established itself as a significant new player in the global healthcare investment ecosystem. The fund also represents the largest venture capital fund launch in Greece’s history and ranks among the largest first-time life sciences venture capital launches in Europe. The latest financing milestone reflects growing investor confidence in biotechnology innovation, pharmaceutical services, and technology-driven healthcare platforms that are transforming the future of medicine.
Strategic Investments Target Biotech Innovation and Drug Development
Kos Biotechnology Partners has adopted a flexible investment strategy designed to support companies across all stages of growth, from company formation through Series C financing rounds. The firm focuses on three core sectors: biotech and novel therapeutics, pharma services, and tech-enabled life sciences technologies. By targeting innovative companies developing first-in-class and best-in-class therapies, the fund aims to accelerate scientific breakthroughs that address significant unmet medical needs. Beyond therapeutics, Kos is investing in next-generation contract research, development, and manufacturing organizations that help streamline pharmaceutical innovation and improve drug development efficiency.
The firm also sees significant opportunities in computational biology, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data infrastructure technologies that are increasingly being used to reduce clinical development risk and improve decision-making throughout the healthcare value chain. This diversified investment approach positions Kos to capitalize on the convergence of biology, digital technology, and advanced computing that is reshaping the global life sciences industry.
Experienced Leadership and Cross-Border Life Sciences Vision
The fund was founded by Dr. Simos Simeonidis and Alex Tzoukas, combining deep scientific expertise with extensive healthcare investment experience. Dr. Simeonidis brings biomedical training from Columbia and Harvard Medical Schools along with more than a decade of biotechnology investment experience across leading Wall Street institutions and healthcare-focused investment firms. Alex Tzoukas contributes substantial healthcare investment banking and private equity expertise gained through leadership roles at Deutsche Bank, MTS Health Partners, and Gurnet Point Capital. Joining the leadership team is Nikos Kostaras, former Greece country head for IQVIA, who provides operational and strategic expertise across the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
Together, the leadership team aims to bridge the strengths of the U.S. biopharma ecosystem with Europe’s expanding life sciences market. The firm’s extensive advisory network, composed of leading scientists, clinicians, and biopharma executives from the Greek diaspora, further strengthens its ability to identify promising opportunities and support portfolio companies pursuing global expansion.
Early Investments Signal Strong Operational Momentum
Kos has already begun deploying capital and building momentum across its portfolio. The firm recently led a financing round for Epikast, a technology-enabled pharmaceutical services provider, while also completing a strategic investment in a San Francisco-based biotechnology company that is expected to be announced in the near future. Additional investments are planned throughout 2026 as the fund continues to evaluate opportunities across therapeutics, pharmaceutical services, and healthcare technology. Company leadership believes the combination of strategic capital, operational expertise, and international connectivity provides a strong foundation for helping innovators scale globally.
As healthcare systems increasingly embrace precision medicine, advanced therapeutics, and digital health solutions, venture capital investment remains a critical driver of scientific progress. Through its growing portfolio and transatlantic investment strategy, Kos Biotechnology Partners is positioning itself as an important catalyst for innovation, supporting the next generation of companies working to transform patient care and advance human health worldwide.
