NAARDEN, Netherlands — October 6, 2026
RougeTx announced its launch with a $58 million Series A financing to advance its lead program, RTX-001, toward first-in-human clinical development for hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). The financing was co-led by BioGeneration Ventures, Angelini Ventures and Kurma Partners, with participation from the European Investment Bank’s Aurea co-investment facility, Epidarex Capital, Vesalius Biocapital Partners, ROM Utrecht Region, p53 Invest and Kerna Ventures. RougeTx is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing disease-modifying therapies intended to restore vascular integrity by targeting pericyte dysfunction. The newly launched company said the financing will provide resources to advance RTX-001 toward clinical development while establishing a broader platform for therapeutic programs addressing diseases associated with vascular instability.
RTX-001 Targets Vascular Instability in HHT
RTX-001 is being developed as a potential once-daily oral treatment designed to restore blood vessel stability in patients with HHT, a serious inherited bleeding disorder for which there are currently no approved therapies. HHT is characterized by abnormal blood vessel formation, including arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), which can cause recurrent nosebleeds and gastrointestinal bleeding and may result in iron deficiency, chronic anemia and complications involving major organs. RougeTx is developing RTX-001 with a strategy focused on restoring pericyte attachment, an important component of blood vessel stability. By targeting the underlying vascular biology rather than relying solely on supportive treatment, the company aims to develop a potential disease-modifying approach for HHT. The company said existing patients largely depend on supportive care and off-label treatments, highlighting the significant unmet medical need that its lead program is intended to address
RougeTx Advances periSCOPE Vascular Disease Platform
The Series A financing will also support RougeTx’s periSCOPE platform, which is designed to expand the company’s research beyond HHT into additional vascular diseases associated with vascular instability. Through the platform, RougeTx is applying its understanding of vascular biology and pericyte dysfunction to identify additional therapeutic opportunities and develop a pipeline of small-molecule medicines based on common underlying disease mechanisms. The company said RTX-001 provides the initial foundation for this strategy as it prepares to move toward human clinical testing. The platform could allow RougeTx to investigate vascular conditions where impaired vessel stability plays a central role, potentially broadening the company’s development pipeline beyond its lead HHT program. RougeTx was founded on more than two decades of research into vascular biology, including work conducted at Inserm and Leiden University Medical Center, according to the company.
$58 Million Funding Supports Clinical Development Strategy
The new financing provides RougeTx with capital to advance RTX-001 toward first-in-human studies while strengthening its corporate and scientific infrastructure. The company said the funding will support development of its lead program and continued expansion of its vascular disease pipeline. The financing also brings several experienced biotechnology and venture capital investors onto RougeTx’s Board of Directors, including representatives from BioGeneration Ventures, Angelini Ventures, Kurma Partners, Epidarex Capital and Vesalius Biocapital Partners. As a newly launched biotechnology company, RougeTx is positioning its development strategy around vascular integrity, pericyte biology and small-molecule therapeutics. The company’s immediate focus remains advancing RTX-001 for HHT, while its periSCOPE platform provides a foundation for exploring additional diseases driven by vascular instability. The $58 million Series A marks the launch of RougeTx and establishes financial support for moving its lead program from preclinical development toward clinical testing.
