SAN ANTONIO, Texas, July 14, 2026
Valion Bio, Inc. has announced major strategic progress across its Entolimod platform, advancing multiple initiatives spanning government biodefense preparedness, domestic biologics manufacturing, and oncology supportive care. The company reported continued engagement with key U.S. government agencies, including the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI), and the U.S. Department of War, as it advances Entolimod as a potential medical countermeasure for Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS) under the FDA Animal Rule. At the same time, Valion Bio has demonstrated a 200-fold manufacturing scale-up through its wholly owned subsidiary Velocity Bioworks® and announced plans to expand the platform into oncology supportive care, beginning with physician-sponsored studies in chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. Together, these initiatives position the company to evolve beyond a single-product developer into a diversified biotechnology platform focused on immune modulation, radiation preparedness, and innovative cancer supportive therapies.
Government Engagement Strengthens Radiation Preparedness Program
Valion Bio continues to prioritize Entolimod as a potential treatment for Acute Radiation Syndrome, a life-threatening condition resulting from exposure to high levels of ionizing radiation. The investigational biologic is being developed under the FDA Animal Rule, a regulatory pathway designed for medical countermeasures where traditional human efficacy studies are not ethically feasible. The company confirmed ongoing discussions with BARDA, NIAID, AFRRI, and other U.S. government organizations regarding potential development support, procurement opportunities, and future inclusion in the Strategic National Stockpile. Internationally, Valion Bio also continues discussions with Ukraine’s Ministry of Health, which is evaluating Entolimod for possible inclusion in national emergency preparedness reserves. Although no procurement agreements have yet been finalized, these continued engagements underscore growing interest in innovative countermeasures capable of improving national and global radiation emergency preparedness. Entolimod has already received both FDA Fast Track and Orphan Drug Designations, reinforcing its regulatory momentum and potential importance in biodefense.
Manufacturing Expansion Supports Oncology and Commercial Growth
A major milestone highlighted by Valion Bio is the successful 200-fold manufacturing scale-up of Entolimod through Velocity Bioworks®, reaching a 50-liter fermentation process capable of producing an estimated 1.3 million potential human doses while maintaining required purity and potency standards. The vertically integrated manufacturing strategy strengthens supply chain control, improves production readiness, and positions the company to support future government procurement and commercial manufacturing opportunities. Beyond biodefense, Valion Bio is preparing to evaluate Entolimod in oncology supportive care, initially focusing on neutropenia, a serious complication experienced by many cancer patients receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy. The company is also advancing Entolasta, a next-generation TLR5 agonist designed for broader immunomodulatory applications, including cancer supportive care and immune dysfunction. These initiatives significantly broaden the potential clinical and commercial applications of the company’s proprietary TLR5 platform.
Integrated Biotechnology Strategy Creates Multiple Growth Opportunities
Valion Bio’s long-term strategy combines biodefense, domestic biomanufacturing, and oncology innovation into a unified biotechnology platform capable of supporting multiple development pathways. Rather than relying on a single product candidate, the company is leveraging its scientific expertise, proprietary manufacturing capabilities, and expanding immunology pipeline to create diversified opportunities across government-funded preparedness programs, clinical development, and commercial therapeutics. More than US$140 million has already been invested in the development of Entolimod, providing a strong scientific and regulatory foundation for future advancement. As regulatory activities, manufacturing capabilities, and oncology studies continue progressing, Valion Bio aims to strengthen its position within both the biodefense and oncology sectors while expanding the therapeutic potential of TLR5 activation for diseases involving immune dysregulation. These coordinated initiatives highlight the company’s commitment to advancing innovative biologics that address critical unmet medical and public health needs through an integrated, scalable development strategy.
