REHOVOT, Israel and HOBOKEN, N.J. — September 17, 2026
Kamada Ltd. confirmed that it has sufficient KedRAB® inventory and manufacturing capacity to support increased demand for rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in the United States. The announcement follows a September 10, 2026 U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Health Advisory reporting a significant year-over-year increase in human rabies exposures and use of rabies immunoglobulin. KedRAB is a human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) developed and manufactured by Kamada and is one of two FDA-approved anti-rabies immunoglobulin products indicated for PEP in the U.S. Kamada supplies the U.S. market through its commercialization partner, Kedrion Biopharma Inc., and said its current supply position enables continued product availability for patients and clinicians.
KedRAB Supports Post-Exposure Rabies Prevention
KedRAB is indicated for passive, transient post-exposure prophylaxis of rabies infection following contact with a rabid or potentially rabid animal, and is administered together with a full course of rabies vaccine. Rabies is a fatal viral disease that affects the central nervous system of mammals, including humans, making timely post-exposure treatment an important component of prevention. The CDC estimates that approximately 1.4 million people in the U.S. seek medical care each year following possible rabies exposure, with approximately 100,000 receiving PEP. Kamada estimates the U.S. rabies immunoglobulin market at approximately $200 million annually. The increase in exposure-related utilization reported by the CDC has therefore placed additional attention on the availability and manufacturing capacity of HRIG products used in the PEP treatment pathway.
Manufacturing Network Supports Increased KedRAB Demand
Kamada said its vertically integrated supply chain and manufacturing infrastructure are positioned to support continued KedRAB availability despite increased utilization. The company highlighted its long-standing relationship with Kedrion, as well as the recent FDA approval of Kamada’s in-house rabies testing laboratory, as factors supporting its ability to respond to changing demand while maintaining product quality and consistency. Kamada also operates FDA-approved plasma collection centers in Beaumont, Houston and San Antonio, Texas, supporting its broader specialty plasma-derived therapies business. The company said its manufacturing and supply capabilities provide additional flexibility as U.S. demand for rabies immunoglobulin changes. KedRAB is manufactured from human plasma collected from qualified donors and undergoes testing and manufacturing controls applicable to plasma-derived therapies.
Kamada Strengthens Specialty Plasma-Derived Portfolio
The KedRAB supply position reinforces Kamada’s broader strategy around specialty plasma-derived medicines and vertically integrated manufacturing. The company has a portfolio of FDA-approved products including KEDRAB®, GLASSIA®, CYTOGAM®, VARIZIG®, WINRHO SDF® and HEPAGAM B®, as well as KAMRAB® and equine-based anti-snake venom products. Kamada is also expanding its plasma collection activities to support demand for normal-source and hyperimmune plasma while pursuing additional business development, licensing, collaboration and acquisition opportunities. With increased U.S. rabies exposure and PEP utilization drawing attention to supply continuity, Kamada’s confirmation of KedRAB inventory and manufacturing capacity positions the company to maintain supply through its U.S. commercialization partnership with Kedrion while supporting continued access to rabies post-exposure prophylaxis.
