Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and Pleasanton, California, United States, October 13, 2026
IQVIA and Veeva Systems have expanded their partnership, with IQVIA selecting four Veeva clinical operations applications as enterprise-standard solutions across its clinical development studies. Announced on October 13, 2026, the agreement covers Veeva CTMS, Veeva eTMF, Veeva Study Startup and Veeva Site Connect, extending the companies’ previously announced electronic data capture (EDC) partnership. The expanded collaboration aims to improve clinical trial efficiency, strengthen coordination with research sites and support more informed decisions throughout clinical development. By connecting clinical operations applications with IQVIA’s research services and technology capabilities, the companies intend to reduce operational friction and help sponsors manage studies more effectively. The partnership reflects the growing role of integrated digital platforms in pharmaceutical research, where reliable documentation, timely data exchange and coordinated site activities are essential for conducting high-quality clinical trials. The announcement also emphasizes that customers will retain flexibility when selecting other clinical technologies, including solutions for randomization, trial supply management and electronic clinical outcome assessments.
Four Veeva Applications Standardize Clinical Operations
The expanded partnership brings four applications into IQVIA’s enterprise clinical operations technology framework. Veeva CTMS, or Clinical Trial Management System, supports the planning, tracking and management of clinical studies, including trial activities, site oversight and operational progress. Veeva eTMF, or electronic Trial Master File, supports the organization and maintenance of essential trial documentation needed to demonstrate that a study has been conducted in accordance with applicable requirements. Veeva Study Startup helps coordinate activities involved in preparing research sites for participation, including feasibility, qualification and activation processes. Meanwhile, Veeva Site Connect provides a shared environment for communication and information exchange between sponsors and clinical research sites. Standardizing these applications across IQVIA’s clinical development studies is intended to promote more consistent workflows and improve visibility into study progress. Integrated systems can also help reduce fragmented processes and unnecessary manual transfers of information. However, the practical benefits will depend on implementation, data quality, staff training and how effectively the applications are integrated into existing clinical research processes.
Partnership Aims to Improve Trial Speed and Site Collaboration
Clinical trials require coordination among sponsors, contract research organizations, investigators, research sites and other stakeholders. Disconnected systems can create administrative burdens, delays in document exchange and difficulties obtaining a consistent view of study status. The expanded IQVIA–Veeva collaboration aims to address these challenges by providing a more connected operational environment. According to the companies, the integrated approach is intended to increase trial speed and efficiency, strengthen site-centric operations and support better-informed decisions. Improved communication with research sites is particularly important because investigators and site staff manage participant visits, essential documents and numerous operational responsibilities. More consistent digital workflows may help teams identify outstanding activities, maintain documentation and coordinate trial execution. In addition, connected clinical systems can support more timely access to information, helping project teams monitor progress and address operational issues. The companies have emphasized that the goal is to help bring innovative treatments to patients faster. Nevertheless, technology alone cannot guarantee shorter clinical development timelines or successful trial outcomes, which also depend on recruitment, study design, regulatory review and clinical results.
Flexible Technology Choices Support Clinical Research
The expanded agreement builds on the previously announced EDC partnership between IQVIA and Veeva. Electronic data capture systems are used to collect and manage clinical trial data, while the newly selected clinical operations applications focus on study management, essential documentation, site startup and sponsor-site collaboration. Together, these capabilities are intended to provide a more connected foundation for clinical research activities. Importantly, the companies stated that customers will continue to have the flexibility to select the EDC, randomization and trial supply management (RTSM), and electronic clinical outcome assessment (eCOA) technologies that best meet their requirements, including IQVIA’s own offerings. This flexibility is relevant for pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors operating studies with different therapeutic areas, geographic footprints and operational needs. Both companies also indicated that their clinical solutions are available through IQVIA for sponsors seeking a broader Veeva technology stack. The expanded partnership therefore combines greater standardization within IQVIA’s operations with continued choice for customers using clinical research services. Its long-term impact will depend on implementation and how effectively the connected applications support daily trial activities.
The IQVIA–Veeva agreement highlights the continuing digital transformation of clinical research. By standardizing four clinical operations applications and extending an existing technology partnership, the companies aim to improve trial coordination, documentation management and research-site collaboration. For the pharmaceutical industry, connected clinical systems may help strengthen operational efficiency and support high-quality clinical development, while maintaining appropriate data governance, regulatory compliance and patient protection.
