The announcement follows successful deployments with EmblemHealth, where AI-powered voice agents helped identify at-risk members, conduct clinical heat-related assessments, provide guidance, and connect patients to cooling centers and additional care. AI Voice Agents Expand Emergency Patient Outreach
The new climate-responsive voice AI agents are built to perform high-volume, clinical-grade patient outreach while maintaining conversational interactions designed to improve engagement. During a recent heatwave, EmblemHealth’s bilingual AI agent reached more than 16,000 members within 24 hours, identifying approximately 10% who required additional assistance while achieving a 9.02 out of 10 patient satisfaction score. The program has since expanded to over 50,000 heat-related outreach calls, including advance preparations for New York City’s July heat dome and additional campaigns supporting members affected by poor air quality caused by Canadian wildfires.
Platform Supports Climate, Respiratory and Population Health Programs
The company stated that its AI infrastructure supports a wide range of climate-related healthcare interventions beyond heat emergencies. The platform can proactively contact patients vulnerable to asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and seasonal allergies, confirm medication availability, reinforce preventive education, arrange transportation when needed, and escalate urgent medical concerns to healthcare teams. Healthcare organizations can rapidly activate these AI agents in response to heat advisories, cold weather alerts, wildfire smoke events, influenza outbreaks, and deteriorating air quality, allowing large-scale patient engagement without overwhelming existing clinical staff.
