MENLO PARK, Calif., July 16, 2026
GRAIL, Inc. has announced a strategic collaboration with Priority Health, making the Galleri® multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood test available to self-insured employer health plans across Michigan. The agreement makes Priority Health the first Michigan health plan to offer employer groups access to Galleri as part of their existing cancer screening benefits, expanding upon coverage previously introduced through the insurer’s Thrive and Thrive Plus Medicare Advantage plans. The collaboration represents another significant step toward integrating multi-cancer early detection into employer-sponsored healthcare benefits, helping identify cancers before symptoms appear and potentially improving patient outcomes through earlier diagnosis and treatment. By combining innovative blood-based cancer screening technology with broader health plan access, GRAIL and Priority Health aim to strengthen preventive healthcare while reducing the burden of late-stage cancer diagnoses.
Galleri Blood Test Broadens Early Cancer Detection
The Galleri® MCED test is designed to detect more than 50 types of cancer, including several aggressive cancers that currently lack recommended routine screening programs, such as pancreatic, ovarian, and liver or bile duct cancers. Using a simple blood sample, the test identifies cancer-related DNA methylation signals before clinical symptoms develop and predicts the cancer signal of origin with greater than 90% accuracy, enabling healthcare providers to initiate targeted diagnostic evaluations. Clinical evidence supporting Galleri includes one of the largest research programs in the field of early cancer detection, involving more than 380,000 participants, including the landmark NHS-Galleri randomized controlled trial. When combined with standard cancer screening methods, Galleri demonstrated improved detection of early-stage cancers, increased overall cancer detection rates, and reduced diagnoses of advanced Stage IV disease, reinforcing its potential role in comprehensive cancer screening strategies.
Employer Health Plans Expand Preventive Care Options
Through this collaboration, Priority Health enables employer groups to incorporate Galleri into employee health benefit programs, giving organizations additional tools to promote preventive healthcare and improve long-term workforce health. The insurer currently serves more than 1.4 million members and offers multiple funding models that allow employers to customize healthcare coverage according to workforce needs. By adding multi-cancer early detection alongside existing single-cancer screening programs, employers can provide access to broader cancer screening for eligible adults, particularly individuals aged 50 years and older who face elevated cancer risk. Earlier cancer detection has the potential to reduce healthcare costs by enabling less intensive treatment, improving survival opportunities, and minimizing the clinical and financial impact associated with late-stage disease. The collaboration also reflects increasing interest among health plans in expanding access to innovative precision diagnostics that support preventive medicine and population health management.
Strategic Collaboration Advances Precision Oncology Screening
The partnership further strengthens GRAIL’s commercial expansion strategy while advancing broader adoption of blood-based multi-cancer early detection technologies across the U.S. healthcare system. Although the Galleri test has not yet received FDA approval, it is performed in a CLIA-certified and College of American Pathologists-accredited laboratory and is intended for clinical use under physician supervision. The collaboration highlights growing confidence in genomic screening technologies that complement—not replace—established cancer screening methods. As healthcare providers increasingly focus on personalized preventive care, partnerships between diagnostic innovators and health insurers are expected to play an important role in expanding patient access to advanced cancer detection tools. By integrating Galleri into employer-sponsored health benefits, GRAIL and Priority Health are helping accelerate the transition toward earlier diagnosis, improved treatment opportunities, and better long-term outcomes for individuals at increased risk of cancer.
