Evaxion A/S announced that it will present three-year clinical efficacy data from its Phase 2 trial of the personalized cancer vaccine EVX-01 at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2026, taking place October 23–27 in Madrid, Spain. The presentation will provide new insights into the long-term durability of EVX-01-induced immune responses and evaluate the vaccine’s performance as a stand-alone treatment in patients with advanced melanoma.
Three-Year Follow-Up to Evaluate Long-Term Clinical Benefit
The newly released data originate from a one-year extension of Evaxion’s Phase 2 melanoma trial. During the third year of follow-up, selected patients received EVX-01 without anti-PD-1 therapy, allowing researchers to assess the vaccine’s independent therapeutic activity while further evaluating the durability of immune responses and long-term disease control.
Earlier Phase 2 Results Demonstrated Strong Clinical Responses
Previously reported two-year results demonstrated an objective response rate (ORR) of 75%, with 12 of 16 patients achieving objective clinical responses, including four complete responses. Durable benefit was observed in 92% of responding patients, with no disease relapses reported during the two-year follow-up. Additionally, more than half of patients experienced deepened clinical responses over time, while EVX-01 generated measurable T-cell immune responses against targeted neoantigens in all treated patients.
Personalized AI-Designed Vaccine Targets Advanced Melanoma
EVX-01 is Evaxion’s lead personalized peptide-based cancer vaccine developed using the company’s proprietary AI-Immunology™ platform. Each vaccine is individually designed based on a patient’s unique tumor biology and immune profile to stimulate targeted anti-tumor immune responses. The Phase 2 study initially evaluated EVX-01 in combination with KEYTRUDA® (pembrolizumab) before transitioning selected participants to vaccine-only treatment during the extension phase. The upcoming ESMO presentation is expected to provide important long-term evidence supporting the continued development of personalized cancer vaccines for advanced melanoma.
