Florham Park, New Jersey & Singapore – August 28, 2026
Celularity Inc. announced a new U.S.-based manufacturing collaboration with MuseCell Innovations (MCI) to establish production of Dezawa MuseCells (DMCs) at Celularity’s facility in Florham Park, New Jersey. The collaboration is focused on expanding the U.S. manufacturing capacity of the Dezawa MuseCell platform using the licensed Dezawa Method and MCI’s product specifications. The initial program will establish manufacturing capabilities for MCI-authenticated DMC preparations, with the companies also planning manufacturing of Dezawa MuseExosomes and Dezawa MuseSecretome. The agreement expands the use of Celularity’s existing manufacturing infrastructure and technical capabilities to support production of MCI’s cellular medicine platform in the United States. The companies said the initial project could form the foundation for a broader manufacturing relationship covering additional products and programs.
Celularity Establishes U.S. Manufacturing for Dezawa MuseCells
The primary focus of the collaboration is the establishment of U.S. manufacturing for Dezawa MuseCells, allowing Celularity to utilize its Florham Park manufacturing infrastructure for production under MCI’s defined manufacturing framework. The DMC platform can use qualified perinatal, bone marrow or adipose starting materials, with product authentication based on manufacturing under the licensed Dezawa Method and compliance with MCI specifications. The collaboration is therefore centered on manufacturing control, product characterization and reproducibility rather than simply expanding access to starting materials. Celularity’s facility includes a 147,215-square-foot purpose-built site with a cGMP-ready manufacturing center containing nine Grade C/ISO 7 and six Grade D/ISO 8 manufacturing suites. The company’s capabilities include process development, CMC activities, advanced cell manufacturing, analytical methods and quality systems. This infrastructure provides the manufacturing base for the planned U.S. production program and represents the core operational element of the collaboration.
Dezawa Method Defines the Manufacturing Framework
A key aspect of the collaboration is the use of the licensed Dezawa Method and MCI-controlled product specifications to define DMC products across qualified tissue sources. MuseCell biology and investigational applications have been described in more than 170 peer-reviewed publications and evaluated in multiple human clinical studies. Under the collaboration, MCI-authenticated products will be supported by source qualification, manufacturing authorization, lot-level testing and traceability requirements. The companies also intend to establish dedicated manufacturing processes, analytical characterization, specifications and release criteria for DMC-derived products, including Dezawa MuseExosomes and Dezawa MuseSecretome. The manufacturing framework is intended to maintain defined product characteristics while allowing source-specific biological properties to be evaluated and controlled. For Celularity, the collaboration represents an expansion of its manufacturing role beyond its own placental-derived cellular medicine programs, including cenplacel-L, into manufacturing support for an external cellular technology platform.
Celularity and MCI Target Broader Manufacturing Expansion
Following successful completion of the initial manufacturing project, Celularity and MuseCell Innovations intend to expand their relationship across additional products and programs. MCI estimates that the broader collaboration could generate more than $300 million in aggregate purchases from Celularity over five years, although this figure represents a projection based on potential future programs and is not a guaranteed contract value. The planned expansion could also support the creation of more than 200 high-tech jobs at Celularity’s Florham Park site across biomanufacturing, quality control, engineering and related functions. The immediate significance of the announcement, however, is the establishment of a U.S. manufacturing pathway for the Dezawa MuseCell platform and the planned production of related MuseCell-derived products. By combining MCI’s platform and manufacturing specifications with Celularity’s existing cellular manufacturing infrastructure, the collaboration is positioned to expand domestic production capacity while maintaining defined quality, testing and traceability requirements.
