Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S., October 5, 2026
BlueWhale Bio has announced continued progress across its Synecta™ cell therapy manufacturing platform, highlighting new clinical follow-up data, the launch of a product designed to support clinical-stage development, and expanded international distribution. The company reported preliminary nine-month follow-up showing more than twice the CAR-T persistence compared with a dose-matched prior cohort using conventional bead-based activation. BlueWhale Bio also announced the availability of Synecta™ T1 Enhanced, new distribution partnerships in China and Europe, and ongoing work to expand access to its cell-derived nanoparticle technology for immune-cell manufacturing.
Synecta-Manufactured CAR-T Cells Show Extended Persistence
Preliminary clinical follow-up from patients treated at the University of Pennsylvania provided additional evidence supporting Synecta-manufactured CAR-T cells. Four patients with refractory lymphoma and leukemia who received Synecta-manufactured huCART19-IL18 showed measurable CAR-T exposure at Day 100, with persistence observed through one year. According to BlueWhale Bio, CAR-T persistence was more than twice as long as that observed in four patients from a previous dose-matched lymphoma cohort whose cells were manufactured using conventional bead-based activation. Three of the four patients treated with Synecta-manufactured cells achieved durable complete responses, although the company described the findings as preliminary follow-up from a limited patient population. The clinical observations are being complemented by laboratory research evaluating the functional characteristics of Synecta-manufactured CAR-T cells. Single-cell imaging conducted with Applied Cells and Celldom’s CloneXplorer platform indicated that Synecta manufacturing produced a greater proportion of CAR-T cells capable of serial tumor-cell killing followed by subsequent proliferation compared with bead-based manufacturing.
Synecta T1 Enhanced Supports Clinical Translation
BlueWhale Bio has also launched Synecta T1 Enhanced, a product grade intended to support the use of cell-derived nanoparticles in clinical-stage cell therapy programs. The company says the product is supported by quality documentation filed in its FDA Drug Master File, helping provide a foundation for translational development. Synecta technology is designed to mimic physiological immune-cell activation using cell-derived nanoparticles, with the goal of providing immune-cell manufacturers with a potentially faster, simpler, and more consistent activation workflow. The technology is being explored across different cell therapy development programs. At Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), researchers are preparing to use Synecta T1 to manufacture CAR-T cells for a study involving children with relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The program aims to evaluate whether the approach could potentially reduce the need for subsequent bone marrow transplantation. The planned clinical application represents another step in translating the Synecta platform from manufacturing research into clinical-stage cell therapy development.
BlueWhale Expands Global Synecta Access
Alongside its clinical and product development activities, BlueWhale Bio is expanding the availability of its Synecta platform internationally. The company has appointed MineBio as a distributor in China and Tebubio as a distributor in Europe, providing customers in those regions with local product access and scientific support. The expansion is intended to make Synecta technology more accessible to cell therapy developers working on research and translational programs. BlueWhale Bio says the platform is designed to modernize immune-cell manufacturing by providing critical materials that can support faster, simpler, and more consistent workflows. The company is also continuing to engage with the cell and gene therapy community, with CEO Peter Keller scheduled to present an update on the company’s business and development strategy at the Cell & Gene Meeting on the Mesa in Phoenix. Together, the clinical observations, new Synecta T1 Enhanced product, and international distribution expansion mark continued progress for BlueWhale Bio as it works to establish its cell-derived nanoparticle platform within the evolving cell and gene therapy manufacturing ecosystem.
