WATERTOWN, Mass. — October 7, 2026
Matchpoint Therapeutics announced the successful closing of a $150 million Series B financing to advance its pipeline of first-in-class oral small molecules for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The financing was co-led by Nextech Invest and Norwest, with participation from new investors including Invus, BB Biotech, T1D Fund and BOLD Longevity Growth, as well as founding and existing investors. Access Biotechnology, Atlas Venture, Sanofi Ventures, Digitalis Ventures and other current investors also participated in the round. The financing provides Matchpoint with capital to advance its lead program, MPT-062, toward clinical proof-of-concept and support continued development of the company’s broader pipeline. Matchpoint said the funding represents an important milestone as it prepares to begin clinical development of MPT-062 in 2027 and expands its efforts to develop precision covalent medicines for immune-mediated diseases.
MPT-062 Targets T-Cell Overactivation
A major focus of the Series B financing will be the advancement of MPT-062, Matchpoint’s lead oral therapeutic candidate and a potential first-in-class T-cell modulator. The company is developing MPT-062 for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases in which inappropriate immune activation contributes to disease progression. According to Matchpoint, the candidate is designed to precisely address disease-causing T-cell overactivation, potentially offering an oral treatment option for patients with immune-mediated inflammatory conditions. The company expects to begin clinical development of MPT-062 in 2027, with the Series B proceeds supporting its progression toward clinical proof-of-concept. Matchpoint’s approach is based on developing rationally designed covalent small molecules against biologically validated targets that have historically been difficult to address with conventional drug discovery methods. The company believes this strategy could generate differentiated oral therapies across multiple autoimmune and inflammatory disease areas.
Matchpoint Expands Precision Covalent Drug Discovery
The financing will also support continued advancement of Matchpoint’s broader product pipeline, which is built around a precision covalent drug discovery platform. The company integrates expertise in chemical biology, covalent chemistry, structure-based drug design and computational sciences to identify and develop small molecules against challenging biological targets. Matchpoint said its focused application of these capabilities has produced a pipeline of first-in-class programs and enabled progress against targets that have historically been considered difficult to drug. In addition to its internally developed programs, Matchpoint will continue advancing an additional discovery program funded by Novartis under a collaboration agreement established in July 2025. The combination of internal pipeline development and strategic collaboration is intended to broaden the company’s ability to translate its covalent chemistry platform into potential medicines for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
New Investors Join Matchpoint Board
As part of the $150 million Series B financing, Kanishka Pothula, Ph.D., Managing Partner at Nextech Invest, and Brian Matesic, M.D., Principal at Norwest, will join Matchpoint Therapeutics’ Board of Directors. The participation of new and existing investors provides additional financial and strategic support as the company transitions its lead program toward clinical development. Matchpoint said the financing reflects progress in its efforts to develop first-in-class oral therapies for diseases where current treatment options may not adequately address underlying immune mechanisms. With MPT-062 expected to enter clinical development in 2027, the new capital is positioned to fund the company’s next stage of growth, including clinical proof-of-concept activities and advancement of additional pipeline programs. Matchpoint Therapeutics is using the Series B financing to accelerate its transition from discovery-stage innovation toward clinical development, with its precision covalent platform serving as the foundation for a broader autoimmune and inflammatory disease pipeline.
