PARIS, France, June 1, 2026
Curium, a global leader in radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medicine, has announced a strategic investment of more than €32 million in Saclay, France, to establish a new European production line for ¹⁷⁷Lu-PSMA-I&T, an advanced radioligand therapy (RLT) designed for patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The investment, unveiled during the Choose France Summit in Versailles, represents a significant expansion of Curium’s therapeutic manufacturing capabilities and strengthens Europe’s position in the rapidly growing field of targeted cancer treatment. The project will create approximately 20 highly skilled jobs and support increasing demand for innovative radiopharmaceutical therapies across the continent. As precision oncology continues to evolve, Curium’s investment highlights the growing importance of theranostics and radioligand therapies in modern cancer care.
New Production Line to Strengthen European Cancer Care
The new manufacturing facility in Saclay will focus on the production of ¹⁷⁷Lu-PSMA-I&T, a targeted radioligand therapy that combines a radioactive isotope with a molecular targeting agent capable of identifying and attacking prostate cancer cells. This highly precise therapeutic approach enables radiation to be delivered directly to tumor sites while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. The expansion will allow Curium to significantly increase production capacity and improve access to innovative treatments for patients suffering from advanced prostate cancer across Europe.
The company noted that Saclay’s world-class scientific ecosystem, supported by decades of expertise in nuclear medicine and its close association with the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), makes it an ideal location for advanced radiopharmaceutical manufacturing. By strengthening local production capabilities, Curium aims to secure long-term supply chains and support the anticipated surge in demand for radioligand therapies.
Radioligand Therapy Emerges as a Transformative Cancer Technology
Radioligand therapy is increasingly recognized as one of the most promising innovations in oncology. Unlike conventional treatments, RLT combines molecular precision with targeted radiation delivery, enabling clinicians to attack cancer cells directly while reducing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. Curium’s investment reflects growing confidence in the clinical and commercial potential of this technology. The company believes radioligand therapies will become a core component of future cancer treatment strategies, particularly for patients with difficult-to-treat malignancies such as metastatic prostate cancer.
Industry projections indicate that the number of patients eligible for radioligand therapy in France alone could increase more than tenfold by 2035, driven by advances in diagnostic imaging, therapeutic targeting, and personalized medicine. As healthcare providers increasingly adopt theranostic approaches that integrate diagnosis and treatment, radiopharmaceutical innovation is expected to play an increasingly important role in improving patient outcomes.
Curium Accelerates Growth in the Expanding Radiopharmaceutical Market
The Saclay investment forms part of Curium’s broader industrial strategy to strengthen its leadership position in global nuclear medicine. Over the past five years, the company has invested more than €50 million in France, reinforcing its commitment to expanding radiopharmaceutical production and supporting innovation in cancer therapeutics. France currently represents more than 20% of Curium’s global revenue, with over 750 employees, 13 production sites, and support for more than 200 nuclear medicine centers daily.
Curium expects the radiopharmaceutical market to experience substantial growth over the coming decade, driven by increasing demand for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The company’s expanding portfolio includes more than 45 products and a late-stage pipeline focused on oncology, particularly prostate cancer and neuroendocrine tumors. With this latest investment, Curium is positioning itself at the forefront of the next generation of precision cancer care, helping to improve access to highly targeted therapies while advancing the global transition toward personalized oncology solutions.
