SHANGHAI and HONG KONG, China, July 13, 2026
Antengene has announced the receipt of a USD 60 million upfront payment from UCB under their previously signed worldwide exclusive licensing agreement for ATG-201, an investigational CD19/CD3 bispecific T-cell engager (TCE) antibody being developed for B cell-related autoimmune diseases. The milestone payment marks a significant step in the strategic collaboration established in March 2026 and reinforces Antengene’s financial position as it advances its innovative immunology and oncology pipeline. Under the agreement, UCB has secured exclusive global rights to further develop, manufacture, and commercialize ATG-201, while also gaining access to Antengene’s proprietary manufacturing technology. The collaboration combines Antengene’s expertise in next-generation bispecific antibody engineering with UCB’s global capabilities in autoimmune disease development, highlighting the increasing importance of strategic partnerships in accelerating the delivery of innovative immune-targeted therapies to patients worldwide.
ATG-201 Advances Clinical Development for Autoimmune Diseases
ATG-201 is a novel CD19-targeting bispecific T-cell engager that incorporates steric hindrance masking technology, an advanced approach designed to selectively eliminate CD19-expressing B cells while enhancing therapeutic precision. By simultaneously engaging CD3-positive T cells and CD19-positive B cells, the investigational therapy activates the body’s immune system to remove disease-causing B cells implicated in multiple autoimmune disorders. In June 2026, China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved the Investigational New Drug (IND) application for the Phase I ATTRACT clinical study, allowing evaluation of ATG-201 in patients with B cell-related autoimmune diseases. Antengene is currently progressing the Phase I clinical trial in China while simultaneously preparing to expand clinical development into Australia, supporting the global advancement of this next-generation immunotherapy.
Strategic Partnership Strengthens Global Development
The licensing agreement represents a major strategic milestone for both organizations. Beyond the USD 60 million upfront payment, Antengene remains eligible to receive an additional USD 20 million in near-term milestone payments, subject to predefined development objectives. The agreement also includes the potential for more than USD 1 billion in future development, regulatory, commercial milestone payments, together with tiered royalties on future global net sales, reflecting the significant commercial potential of ATG-201. The immediate payment substantially strengthens Antengene’s financial resources, providing additional capital to accelerate research, clinical development, and expansion of its growing portfolio of innovative biologics. The collaboration also validates Antengene’s proprietary AnTenGager® TCE 2.0 platform, which has been engineered to improve efficacy while minimizing cytokine release syndrome through optimized CD3 binding kinetics and steric masking technology.
Bispecific Antibody Innovation Expands Antengene’s Pipeline
The collaboration further reinforces Antengene’s position as an emerging leader in bispecific antibody and T-cell engager technologies. Built upon the proprietary AnTenGager® platform, the company continues to develop multiple investigational therapies targeting autoimmune diseases, hematologic malignancies, and solid tumors using advanced immune-engaging mechanisms. The platform supports several pipeline candidates directed against clinically important targets across oncology and immunology, reflecting Antengene’s commitment to addressing diseases with substantial unmet medical need. As global investment in bispecific antibodies, immune cell engagers, and precision immunotherapies continues to accelerate, the UCB partnership provides strong validation of Antengene’s scientific capabilities while positioning ATG-201 as a promising candidate for future treatment of autoimmune diseases. The licensing milestone demonstrates growing industry confidence in innovative immune-modulating therapies capable of transforming patient care while strengthening international collaboration across the global biopharmaceutical sector.
