CAMBRIDGE, Mass., August 18, 2026
Amylyx Pharmaceuticals has announced the commencement of an underwritten public offering of $350.0 million of common stock, strengthening its financial position as the biopharmaceutical company prepares for the next stages of development and potential commercialization of avexitide. The proposed offering includes an option for underwriters to purchase up to an additional $52.5 million of shares during a 30-day period. All shares in the offering are being offered by Amylyx, and completion remains subject to market conditions and other customary factors. The financing is expected to provide additional resources for manufacturing, research and development, and broader corporate activities as the company advances its pipeline.
Amylyx Targets Manufacturing and Pre-Commercial Activities
Amylyx plans to use the net proceeds from the proposed public offering, together with its existing cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities, to support several strategic priorities. A key area will be pre-commercial activities for avexitide, including efforts to secure additional manufacturing capacity. The company is developing avexitide as an investigational therapy and intends to strengthen its operational readiness as the program progresses. Additional proceeds will support research and development, as well as working capital and other general corporate purposes. Increasing manufacturing capacity can be an important step for a biopharmaceutical company preparing a late-stage program for potential commercialization, particularly when future demand, supply requirements and regulatory expectations need to be addressed.
$350 Million Financing Supports Biopharma Pipeline
The proposed equity financing represents a significant capital raise for Amylyx Pharmaceuticals and provides the company with additional flexibility to advance its development programs. Amylyx is currently focused on four investigational therapies across endocrine conditions and neurodegenerative diseases, areas characterized by significant unmet medical needs. The company has stated that its mission is to develop new approaches for diseases where treatment options remain limited. By combining proceeds from the proposed offering with its existing financial resources, Amylyx expects to have additional capital available for clinical development, manufacturing preparation and other activities required to advance its pipeline. The financing also demonstrates the importance of access to capital in supporting the transition of promising pharmaceutical candidates from development toward potential market introduction.
Offering Remains Subject to Market Conditions
The proposed $350 million public offering is being conducted under a shelf registration statement on Form S-3ASR that became automatically effective upon filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in March 2026. Leerink Partners, Morgan Stanley, Guggenheim Securities and LifeSci Capital are acting as joint bookrunning managers for the offering. Amylyx has emphasized that the proposed transaction remains subject to market and other conditions, and there is no assurance regarding whether or when the offering will be completed or its final size and terms. The company has also noted that the underwriters are expected to receive a 30-day option to purchase additional shares worth up to $52.5 million at the public offering price, less applicable underwriting discounts and commissions. If completed, the financing would provide Amylyx with substantial additional resources to support avexitide manufacturing, research and development, working capital and general corporate purposes. For the biopharmaceutical sector, the transaction highlights the continued role of strategic financing in supporting late-stage drug development and potential commercialization programs.
