STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 9, 2026
AlzeCure Pharma announced a global collaboration and out-licensing agreement with Eli Lilly and Company for the Alzheimer’s disease candidate ACD680. Under the terms of the agreement, AlzeCure will receive an upfront payment of $10 million, along with potential development and commercial milestone payments and tiered mid-single-digit royalties on future sales. The total potential value of the transaction, excluding royalties, could exceed $1 billion. The deal represents a significant strategic milestone for AlzeCure and provides Lilly with worldwide rights to develop and commercialize the investigational therapy.
ACD680 Designed to Target Harmful Amyloid Production
ACD680 is a gamma-secretase modulator developed through AlzeCure’s Alzstatin platform and is designed to reduce the production of amyloid-beta 42 (Aβ42), a toxic protein closely associated with the formation of amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to lowering Aβ42 levels, the candidate is intended to increase production of shorter, non-harmful amyloid-beta proteins, including Aβ37 and Aβ38. Researchers believe this dual mechanism may help reduce plaque formation and slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by addressing one of its key underlying biological drivers.
Partnership Highlights Commercial Potential of Alzstatin Platform
AlzeCure executives emphasized that the Alzstatin platform is based on a mechanism with a strong genetic link to Alzheimer’s disease. According to the company, compounds developed through the platform are intended to prevent the re-accumulation of harmful amyloid proteins in the brain and may eventually serve as preventive treatments for individuals at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The agreement with Lilly provides significant external validation of the scientific approach behind the program and underscores growing industry interest in disease-modifying therapies for neurodegenerative disorders.
Deal Includes Future Milestones and Royalty Opportunities
Under the licensing agreement, Eli Lilly will assume responsibility for the future global development and commercialization of ACD680. In addition to the upfront payment, AlzeCure remains eligible to receive substantial development and commercial milestone payments as the program advances, as well as tiered mid-single-digit royalties on future product sales. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including approval by Swedish authorities under foreign direct investment regulations. If successfully completed, the partnership could accelerate the advancement of ACD680 while providing AlzeCure with significant long-term financial opportunities tied to the program’s future success.
