Alcon and RxSight, Inc. have announced a strategic collaboration to jointly develop adjustable presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (PCIOLs), combining Alcon’s industry-leading intraocular lens optical designs with RxSight’s pioneering Light Adjustable Lens® technology. The non-exclusive agreement aims to create a next-generation ophthalmic solution that enables surgeons to fine-tune patients’ visual outcomes after cataract surgery, offering greater precision than conventional intraocular lenses. The collaboration represents a significant advancement in ophthalmic medical technology by integrating post-operative light-adjustable capabilities with premium presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses, potentially transforming the standard of care for cataract patients worldwide. Under the agreement, RxSight will receive a $60 million upfront payment to initiate development and may receive up to an additional $140 million upon achieving predefined development and regulatory milestones. Alcon will lead global commercialization, while RxSight will oversee technology development and manufacturing, receiving royalties based on future commercial sales. The partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to delivering innovative eye care technologies that improve visual outcomes and expand patient access to personalized vision correction.
