Stereotaxis announced the launch of Hungary’s first advanced robotic cardiology program at the University of Szeged, marking a significant milestone in the country’s cardiovascular care. The Cardiology Center (Szent-Györgyi Albert Clinical Center) has become the first hospital in Hungary to install the Genesis Robotic Magnetic Navigation System, an advanced robotic platform designed to improve the treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias through robotic precision, enhanced safety, and minimally invasive catheter ablation. Genesis Robotic Navigation Enhances Precision in Arrhythmia Treatment
The Genesis Robotic Magnetic Navigation System is designed to improve the safety and precision of catheter ablation, a minimally invasive procedure used to treat abnormal heart rhythms. The robotic platform enables physicians to precisely navigate flexible catheters within the heart using robotic magnetic guidance, allowing improved access to difficult anatomical regions while minimizing catheter force against cardiac tissue. This level of precision can enhance procedural consistency, improve physician control, and potentially reduce complications during complex electrophysiology procedures. Cardiac arrhythmias affect tens of millions of people worldwide, causing the heart to beat too quickly, too slowly, or irregularly. If left untreated, these conditions can significantly increase the risk of stroke, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest, making access to advanced treatment technologies increasingly important.
University of Szeged Aims to Become Regional Leader in Cardiac Robotics
According to Prof. Tamás Szili-Török, Vice Dean of Science and Innovation and Director of the Cardiology Center at the University of Szeged, the adoption of robotic navigation represents a major advancement for both patients and medical education in Hungary. Drawing on his previous experience with robotic electrophysiology, he noted that the hospital plans to treat a broad spectrum of arrhythmia patients, develop into a regional training center for robotic cardiology, and contribute to future advances through clinical research and technological innovation. The new program is expected to strengthen Hungary’s position in advanced cardiovascular medicine while improving access to state-of-the-art catheter ablation therapies that combine robotic accuracy, minimally invasive techniques, and improved procedural safety.
