Specialised Therapeutics (ST) has expanded its existing partnership with Incyte to include ruxolitinib cream (Opzelura®) in Australia, strengthening the companies’ collaboration in specialty medicines and expanding ST’s portfolio into inflammatory dermatology. Under the expanded agreement, ST will be responsible for the regulatory submissions, medical affairs, marketing and distribution of ruxolitinib cream across Australia, while Incyte will continue to oversee the product’s development and manufacturing. Ruxolitinib Cream Targets Chronic Skin Diseases
Ruxolitinib cream 1.5% is a topical formulation of ruxolitinib, a selective Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) and JAK2 inhibitor. JAK signaling plays an important role in inflammatory pathways associated with several immune-mediated diseases. In the United States, Opzelura is approved for the topical treatment of non-segmental vitiligo in adults and pediatric patients aged 12 years and older. It is also approved for the short-term and non-continuous chronic treatment of mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis in certain adult and pediatric patients aged two years and older whose disease is not adequately controlled with topical prescription therapies or when those therapies are not advisable. In Europe, the medicine is approved for non-segmental vitiligo with facial involvement in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age and for certain adults with moderate atopic dermatitis.
The addition of Opzelura to Specialised Therapeutics’ Australian portfolio gives the company an opportunity to expand its presence in inflammatory dermatology, an area that includes chronic conditions such as atopic dermatitis and vitiligo.
