New York, September 2, 2026
SELLAS Life Sciences Group, Inc. announced that three abstracts evaluating SLS009 (tambiciclib), a potent and selective CDK9 inhibitor, have been accepted for poster presentation at the 2026 AACR Conference on Pancreatic Cancer: New Frontiers in Biology and Therapeutic Development. The presentations will highlight preclinical activity of SLS009 in patient-derived KRAS-mutant organoid models of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The conference is scheduled for September 25–28, 2026, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego, California. The studies are being conducted in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and are designed to further evaluate the potential of SLS009 in pancreatic cancer and solid tumors.
Three SLS009 Studies to Highlight Pancreatic Cancer Research
The three accepted posters will examine different aspects of the SLS009 preclinical program in PDAC. One presentation will investigate MYC allelic imbalance and therapeutic response using patient-derived pancreatic cancer organoids. A second study will evaluate the potential for synthetic lethality through combined BET and CDK9 inhibition in MYC-amplified PDAC. The third presentation will examine dual CDK9 and KRASG12D selective inhibition as a potential combination approach for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Together, the studies are intended to expand understanding of how CDK9 inhibition could be used against molecular vulnerabilities in pancreatic cancer.
SELLAS Explores Combination Strategies for SLS009
The upcoming AACR presentations will also provide additional insight into the mechanistic and translational rationale for SLS009 in pancreatic cancer. According to SELLAS, the research is exploring whether SLS009 can create potentially useful synthetic lethal interactions when combined with BET-directed and KRAS-directed approaches, while also investigating vulnerabilities associated with MYC biology. These findings remain preclinical, meaning the results from patient-derived organoids and experimental models will require further clinical validation before conclusions can be drawn about the potential effectiveness of SLS009 in pancreatic cancer patients
SELLAS Expands SLS009 Development Beyond Hematologic Malignancies
SELLAS Life Sciences is developing SLS009 as a differentiated small-molecule CDK9 inhibitor, while its broader pipeline includes the lead candidate GPS, which targets the WT1 protein across multiple cancer indications. The company said the pancreatic cancer research adds to the potential development opportunities for SLS009 in solid tumors. The three posters at the 2026 AACR Conference on Pancreatic Cancer are expected to provide the scientific community with additional data on SLS009’s activity, mechanism and potential combination strategies in KRAS-mutant pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The presentations therefore represent an important research milestone as SELLAS continues evaluating the candidate across different cancer settings.
