YARDLEY, Pennsylvania — October 12, 2026
Savara Inc. (NASDAQ: SVRA) announced that new clinical analyses of molgramostim inhalation solution will be presented at the CHEST 2026 Annual Meeting, taking place October 18–21 in Phoenix, Arizona. The presentations will include long-term efficacy and safety data from the open-label treatment period of the Phase 3 IMPALA-2 trial and a poster analyzing molgramostim treatment effects in patients with autoimmune pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (aPAP) who have mild diffusion impairment. The company will also host a learning theatre session featuring a clinical expert and members of the patient community to discuss the disease and its impact on daily life. Molgramostim, a recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), is being developed as an inhaled treatment for this rare respiratory disease. The upcoming presentations will provide further information on its clinical evaluation and the challenges faced by people living with aPAP.
IMPALA-2 Long-Term Data to Be Presented at CHEST 2026
Savara’s accepted encore oral presentation will focus on the long-term efficacy and safety of molgramostim in patients with aPAP who participated in the open-label treatment period of the Phase 3 IMPALA-2 trial. The presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time at the Phoenix Convention Center, in Exhibit Hall Rapid Fire Area 2D. Bruce C. Trapnell, MD, Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, will present the findings. The open-label treatment period is intended to provide additional information about outcomes during continued treatment. However, the company’s announcement did not disclose numerical efficacy results or detailed safety findings in advance of the meeting. The presentation is therefore an opportunity for clinicians and researchers to review the longer-term dataset and consider its implications for treatment development. The results will need to be interpreted in the context of the study design and the limitations associated with open-label analyses.
Poster Examines Molgramostim in Patients With Mild Diffusion Impairment
A separate poster presentation will examine molgramostim treatment effects in patients with aPAP who have mild diffusion impairment. The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 10:20 to 11:05 a.m. Mountain Standard Time, in Poster Area 3 at the Phoenix Convention Center. Dr. Trapnell will also present this analysis during the diffuse lung disease scientific poster session. Diffusion impairment concerns the transfer of gases, including oxygen, between the air sacs in the lungs and the bloodstream. Evaluating treatment effects in patients with milder impairment may provide additional insight into how clinical characteristics relate to outcomes during molgramostim treatment. However, the announcement did not provide the analysis results, participant numbers or specific outcome measures, so conclusions about efficacy in this subgroup cannot yet be drawn. The poster will add to the scientific discussion surrounding treatment approaches for aPAP and may help inform future research into disease management across different patient profiles.
Molgramostim Targets the Underlying Mechanism of aPAP
Autoimmune pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is a rare lung disease characterized by the abnormal accumulation of surfactant, a mixture of proteins and lipids that normally helps prevent the lung’s alveoli from collapsing. Under healthy conditions, alveolar macrophages clear excess surfactant. In aPAP, antibodies neutralize GM-CSF, a signaling protein required for normal macrophage function, impairing surfactant clearance and allowing material to accumulate in the alveoli. This buildup interferes with gas exchange and can cause shortness of breath, cough and fatigue. Savara’s lead candidate, molgramostim inhalation solution, is a recombinant human GM-CSF designed for delivery directly to the lungs using a proprietary investigational eFlow Nebulizer System developed with PARI Pharma GmbH. The treatment is in Phase 3 development for aPAP. By replacing GM-CSF activity in the lungs, molgramostim is being investigated as an approach to address an underlying mechanism of the disease. Its efficacy and safety must be established through clinical trials and regulatory review.
