The first patient procedures were performed on June 22 and June 23, 2026, by David Friscia, MD, an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon at Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage, California. According to Resivant Medical, all cases proceeded without complication. The company describes the achievement as the first clinical use of its proprietary Cutiva siliconized adhesive platform and a significant milestone in the development of a new cyanoacrylate chemistry for topical skin closure. The Cutiva™ PLUS Skin Closure System combines a high-viscosity, no-run liquid adhesive with a surgical mesh patch, delivered through a single-handed applicator designed for controlled and precise placement. The company says the adhesive is engineered to create a strong bond while incorporating characteristics of silicone rubber, potentially providing greater flexibility and durability than conventional topical adhesives. The surgical mesh provides additional reinforcement, an important consideration for incision sites exposed to repeated mechanical stress, including those encountered in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery. The system also forms a protective microbial barrier over the incision and is designed to support wound closure without requiring additional dressings. According to Resivant, the mesh can be removed without damaging surrounding skin, while the overall system is designed to minimize the potential for skin reactions and improve patient comfort.
