RenovoRx announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a Notice of Allowance for a new patent application covering technologies supporting RenovoCath®, the company’s FDA-cleared targeted drug-delivery device for cancer treatment. The allowance strengthens RenovoRx’s intellectual property position around its Trans-Arterial Micro-Perfusion (TAMP™) platform, as the company continues commercializing RenovoCath and advancing its drug-device oncology program. The new patent is expected to broaden protection for the catheter technology and its use in localized therapeutic delivery, adding another layer to RenovoRx’s growing intellectual property portfolio.
New Patent Strengthens RenovoCath Technology
The allowed patent application, U.S. Application No. 18/184,620, titled “Methods and Apparatuses for Delivery of Therapeutic Materials for the Treatment of Cancer,” covers technology associated with the RenovoCath dual-occlusion catheter system. The device incorporates a primary catheter with multiple ports and expandable occlusion balloons designed to temporarily isolate a segment of a blood vessel and establish a controlled treatment zone. A secondary catheter can be advanced through the primary catheter into a branching vessel, providing clinicians with more selective access to targeted vasculature. This configuration is designed to support controlled local delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic agents near tumor sites, forming a core component of RenovoRx’s precision drug-delivery strategy. The additional patent protection is particularly relevant as the company seeks to expand applications for its platform and strengthen its competitive position in targeted oncology drug delivery..
TAMP Platform Supports Localized Cancer Treatment
RenovoRx’s TAMP platform is designed to deliver therapies locally through the arterial system rather than relying exclusively on systemic intravenous administration. The approach is intended to create a controlled treatment environment near the tumor while potentially reducing exposure to healthy tissues. RenovoCath is FDA-cleared for isolation of blood flow and delivery of fluids, including diagnostic and therapeutic agents, to selected sites within the peripheral vascular system. Its cleared applications include temporary vessel occlusion for procedures such as arteriography, preoperative occlusion and chemotherapeutic drug infusion. RenovoRx is commercializing RenovoCath as a standalone medical device, while simultaneously evaluating the catheter as part of its investigational drug-device combination program. The company reported approximately $1.5 million in RenovoCath sales through June 30, 2026, compared with approximately $1.1 million for its first full commercial year in 2025.
Phase III TIGeR-PaC Program Remains Key Development Driver
Alongside its device commercialization activities, RenovoRx is advancing intra-arterial gemcitabine (IAG) delivered through RenovoCath in the Phase III TIGeR-PaC clinical trial. The investigational drug-device combination is being evaluated for pancreatic cancer under an FDA-regulated investigational new drug application. RenovoRx expects the TIGeR-PaC study to reach full enrollment in the near term, with a final data readout anticipated in mid-to-late 2027. IAG remains investigational and has not been approved for commercial sale. The RenovoCath-gemcitabine combination has received Orphan Drug Designation for pancreatic cancer and bile duct cancer, supporting the company’s development strategy in cancers with significant unmet medical needs. With the latest Notice of Allowance, RenovoRx’s global intellectual property portfolio now comprises 20 issued or allowed patents and 13 pending patents covering its TAMP platform and RenovoCath technology. The company said the expanding patent portfolio is intended to support commercialization, potential partnerships and licensing opportunities as it advances both the standalone device business and its targeted oncology pipeline.
