MADRID, Spain & CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 1, 2026
Oryzon Genomics S.A. announced the successful completion of a €12 million capital raise through the issuance of 4,444,445 new ordinary shares priced at €2.70 per share, strengthening the company’s financial position and supporting the advancement of its clinical development programs. The offering was completed without the issuance of warrants and was priced at a 14.15% discount to the five-day volume-weighted average price (VWAP) and a 12.68% discount to the June 30 closing price. The company said the proceeds will be used to strengthen its balance sheet, accelerate the clinical development of iadademstat for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), advance additional programs in hematology and psychiatry, and support general corporate activities. The financing provides Oryzon with increased financial flexibility as it continues discussions regarding future strategic partnerships while expanding its late-stage clinical pipeline.
COFIDES Commits Additional €25 Million for Future Growth
Alongside the completed financing, Oryzon signed a share subscription agreement with the Social Impact Fund, managed by COFIDES, under Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed through the European Union’s NextGenerationEU programme. Under the agreement, the Social Impact Fund has committed to invest up to €25 million in future Oryzon capital increases, subject to specified corporate, financial, operational, and impact-related conditions. The commitment applies to any qualifying capital increase completed within six months of signing the agreement, with the possibility of extension by mutual consent. Oryzon will use the future proceeds to support research and development activities focused on central nervous system disorders, oncology, and hematology, with at least 40% of the funding allocated to mental health programs, including its borderline personality disorder development program and other psychiatric indications.
Funding Supports Expansion of Clinical Pipeline
The newly secured capital will primarily support the continued advancement of iadademstat, Oryzon’s lead oncology candidate targeting acute myeloid leukemia, while also funding ongoing clinical studies across its hematology and psychiatry portfolio. The company is also progressing vafidemstat, its lead central nervous system (CNS) candidate, which is Phase III-ready for the treatment of borderline personality disorder. Beyond these lead programs, Oryzon continues developing additional epigenetic therapies, including ORY-4001, an HDAC6 inhibitor being explored for Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and other neurological disorders. According to the company, the financing significantly strengthens its ability to execute key clinical milestones while supporting future business development opportunities and potential strategic collaborations.
Investment Reinforces Confidence in Oryzon’s Epigenetics Platform
The financing and strategic commitment from COFIDES’ Social Impact Fund underscore growing institutional confidence in Oryzon’s epigenetics-based drug development platform and its focus on precision medicine for oncology and central nervous system disorders. Company leadership stated that the investment not only improves financial flexibility but also validates the scientific, commercial, and social impact potential of its mental health and cancer research programs. With a strengthened balance sheet, continued institutional support, and multiple ongoing clinical programs, Oryzon is well positioned to accelerate the development of innovative therapies addressing significant unmet medical needs while expanding its presence within the global biotechnology sector.
