PONTE VEDRA, Fla., July 21, 2026
Orasis Pharmaceuticals has announced the expansion of patient access programs for QLOSI® (pilocarpine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) 0.4%, introducing a First Fill Free initiative through pharmacy partner BlinkRx and a new in-office dispensing option for eye care professionals. The announcement coincides with a significant commercial milestone, as QLOSI refill rates have reached 49% just 15 months after launch, approximately double the refill rates typically observed for prescription dry eye therapies dispensed through retail pharmacies. The company believes the combination of expanded access, physician-centered prescribing, and strong patient persistence demonstrates growing confidence in QLOSI as an innovative treatment for presbyopia, reinforcing its commitment to supporting eye care professionals rather than relying on direct-to-consumer telehealth models. The latest initiatives are designed to simplify treatment initiation while improving long-term adherence for adults living with age-related blurry near vision.
New Access Programs Support Eye Care Professionals and Patients
The newly introduced First Fill Free program allows eligible patients to receive their initial prescription of QLOSI at no cost through BlinkRx, followed by standard pricing for future prescriptions. In addition, QLOSI is now available through in-office dispensing in states where permitted, enabling patients to leave their eye care appointment with treatment immediately in hand. Combined with BlinkRx home delivery services, these new access pathways provide ophthalmologists and optometrists with greater flexibility to initiate therapy while maintaining the clinical relationship between healthcare professionals and their patients. According to Orasis, this physician-focused distribution strategy reflects the company’s belief that presbyopia treatment decisions are best guided by eye care professionals, ensuring individualized patient evaluation, education, and ongoing management throughout therapy.
Strong Refill Rates Reflect Growing Patient Confidence
Since its U.S. commercial launch in April 2025, QLOSI has gained steady adoption among eye care professionals across the country. Thousands of ophthalmologists and optometrists are now prescribing the therapy, while the 49% refill rate suggests that patients are experiencing meaningful improvements in near vision and choosing to continue treatment. Company officials noted that no retinal tears or retinal detachments have been reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since launch, with real-world clinical experience remaining consistent with the efficacy, safety, and tolerability observed during the pivotal Phase 3 NEAR clinical trials. Eye care specialists also emphasized that the combination of improved near vision, favorable tolerability, and easier patient access helps remove barriers to treatment initiation while encouraging long-term adherence among adults affected by presbyopia.
QLOSI Strengthens Innovation in Presbyopia Treatment
Presbyopia affects nearly two billion people worldwide, including more than 128 million adults in the United States, as the natural aging process gradually reduces the eye’s ability to focus on nearby objects. QLOSI®, the lowest effective concentration preservative-free pilocarpine ophthalmic solution approved in the United States, improves near vision through pupil modulation, creating a pinhole effect that enhances depth of focus without significantly affecting distance vision. The formulation incorporates EyeQ Formulation™ technology, featuring a near-neutral pH and dual lubricating agents designed to improve patient comfort while maintaining clinical effectiveness. With expanded patient access programs, strong refill performance, and positive real-world safety experience, Orasis continues positioning QLOSI as an important advancement in the management of age-related near vision loss while strengthening its leadership in ophthalmic pharmaceutical innovation.
