NRx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that its subsidiary HOPE Therapeutics has begun training and deployment preparations for Zeta Surgical’s newly FDA-cleared Zeta TMS Robotic System, making HOPE the first Interventional Psychiatry network to deploy the technology. HOPE clinical staff are completing orientation and training at Zeta Surgical’s headquarters in Boston before the system is deployed across HOPE clinics in Florida. The move expands HOPE’s existing use of the Zeta TMS Navigation System and represents another step in NRx’s strategy to integrate advanced neuromodulation technology into its psychiatric care model. The robotic system received FDA 510(k) clearance in July 2026 and is designed to provide automated, highly precise positioning of the TMS coil during treatment. NRx said the deployment will also support its broader clinical development strategy for NRX-101 combined with robotic TMS.
Zeta Robotic System Adds AI-Driven TMS Precision
The Zeta TMS Robotic System builds on image-guided navigation by continuously adjusting coil positioning in response to patient movement. HOPE first became the initial commercial U.S. site to treat patients with the Zeta TMS Navigation System in June 2026. That platform uses AI-driven image guidance to track the patient’s head in real time and provide clinicians with information on the coil’s position relative to an MRI-guided brain target. The newly cleared robotic system places the TMS coil within a robotic arm originally approved for neurosurgical applications, while movement tracking enables the system to continually refocus the treatment position with submillimeter precision. NRx believes this approach can make TMS delivery more precise and repeatable by reducing reliance on patients remaining completely still or technicians manually maintaining coil placement. For HOPE, integrating navigation and robotics strengthens its technology-enabled clinical model and creates a platform for standardized treatment delivery across multiple sites.
Robotic TMS Supports SPARC-TMS Clinical Program
Deployment of the robotic system is directly linked to NRx’s SPARC-TMS development program, an FDA-approved Phase 2/3 study evaluating NRX-101 in combination with robotic TMS for depression. The study is registered as NCT07227103 and is planned to operate across a leading U.S. academic teaching hospital, multiple HOPE Therapeutics clinics and two military treatment facilities. NRx has also been selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) as the prime contractor for SPARC-TMS, subject to completion of contracting. The company views the robotic technology as an important component of the trial because accurate and repeatable stimulation of patient-specific brain targets is central to its treatment strategy. TMS is a non-invasive neuromodulation approach used primarily for treatment-resistant depression, a condition that NRx estimates affects approximately one-third of patients with major depressive disorder. By combining pharmacological treatment with highly controlled neuromodulation, SPARC-TMS is intended to evaluate whether the integrated approach can deliver rapid and durable improvements in depression.
NRx Builds Integrated Psychiatry and Neuromodulation Platform
The deployment strengthens NRx Pharmaceuticals’ strategy of combining drug development with technology-enabled psychiatric care through HOPE Therapeutics. NRx is developing a CNS-focused pipeline based on its NMDA platform, including NRX-100 preservative-free intravenous ketamine and NRX-101 oral D-cycloserine/lurasidone. NRX-100 has received FDA Fast Track designation for suicidal ideation in depression, including bipolar depression, while NRX-101 has received Breakthrough Therapy designation for suicidal bipolar depression. HOPE provides the clinical infrastructure through which NRx can incorporate advanced psychiatric technologies into patient care, while the robotic TMS deployment creates a potential bridge between commercial clinical operations and the company’s clinical-development programs. With FDA-cleared robotic TMS technology moving toward deployment in Florida and supporting infrastructure being developed for SPARC-TMS, NRx is positioning HOPE as an important component of its broader strategy to combine pharmaceutical and neuromodulation approaches in depression care.
