NOVOS Labs has announced the publication of positive findings from its STAMINA human clinical trial, reporting improvements in three important measures of cardiovascular health among healthy adults aged 40 and older who consumed its NOVOS Core dietary supplement for six months. The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted by researchers at the University of Surrey, in collaboration with Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, and its findings have been published in European Heart Journal Open. The results showed improvements in blood vessel function, arterial flexibility and systolic blood pressure compared with placebo. The research represents an important development in the growing field of longevity science, where researchers are investigating whether interventions targeting biological processes associated with aging can support healthy function across the body. However, the trial assessed cardiovascular health markers rather than clinical outcomes such as heart attacks, strokes or lifespan.
STAMINA Trial Demonstrates Improvements in Three Cardiovascular Markers
The STAMINA study, formally titled Effects of a Supplement to Target Ageing Mechanisms on Vascular Function, enrolled 61 apparently healthy, non-smoking adults aged 40 years and older. Participants were assigned to receive either NOVOS Core or a matching placebo once daily for six months. The supplement group included 33 participants, while 28 received placebo. The trial was led by Professor Christian Heiss, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Surrey. The primary endpoint was flow-mediated dilation (FMD), a measurement used to assess how effectively an artery widens when blood flow increases. This provides information about endothelial function, which is important for maintaining healthy blood vessel activity. At six months, the NOVOS Core group showed a 2.6-percentage-point improvement from baseline, compared with a slight decline in the placebo group. The adjusted difference between the groups was 2.9 percentage points, with a statistically significant result. The researchers also reported favorable changes in two secondary cardiovascular measures. Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV), an established indicator of arterial stiffness, showed an adjusted difference of 1.18 meters per second in favor of NOVOS Core. In addition, systolic blood pressure decreased by an adjusted 6.1 mmHg compared with placebo. Participants’ average blood pressure was within the normal range at the beginning of the study. These findings suggest that the tested formulation influenced several vascular health markers over the six-month observation period.
University-Led Research Evaluates NOVOS Core Formulation
NOVOS Core is a multi-ingredient dietary supplement containing 12 ingredients, formulated around the company’s approach to the biological hallmarks of aging. The product was evaluated as a complete formulation rather than as individual ingredients, meaning the trial cannot establish which specific components contributed to the observed changes. The study was conducted by academic investigators at the University of Surrey with support from Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. According to the company, NOVOS supplied the supplement, matching placebo and an unrestricted contribution toward research costs. The company stated that it did not control the study design, data collection, primary interpretation or decision to publish, with the academic investigators retaining control of the research data. The results also included an observation that blood vessel function improved within an hour after the first serving, with an adjusted difference of 3.9 percentage points compared with placebo. Nevertheless, the principal findings were based on measurements collected after six months. The study’s single-center design and relatively small participant population mean that the findings require confirmation through larger and more diverse clinical studies. Importantly, the trial did not demonstrate that NOVOS Core prevents cardiovascular disease, treats hypertension or reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Several other measurements, including cholesterol and certain blood pressure indicators, did not show significant differences between the groups.
NOVOS Plans Further Research Into Healthy Aging
The publication of the STAMINA findings provides additional human research data for NOVOS’ healthy-aging development strategy. The company focuses on interventions and research related to biological aging, with the objective of understanding how age-associated biological processes influence different organ systems. Following the cardiovascular study, NOVOS is evaluating potential follow-up research involving muscle function, brain health and cognition, skin health and biological aging processes. These areas could provide opportunities to investigate whether the effects observed in vascular measurements are also relevant to other aspects of human health. Overall, the STAMINA trial provides early human evidence that the complete NOVOS Core formulation may influence selected cardiovascular health markers in healthy adults. Its publication in European Heart Journal Open adds peer-reviewed research to the growing discussion around nutritional interventions and longevity science. Further independent research and larger clinical trials will be important to determine the consistency, long-term significance and practical health implications of these findings.
