AVITA Medical, Inc. announced positive first U.K. clinical experience with its RECELL GO® automated cell harvesting system, presented at the 2026 British Burn Association (BBA) Annual Meeting in Nottingham, United Kingdom. The case series involving 17 burn and reconstructive surgery patients demonstrated successful treatment outcomes, uncomplicated donor-site healing, complete graft take, and no reported complications while highlighting improved operating room workflow and standardized preparation of RECELL® Spray-On Skin™ Cells. The findings support the growing international adoption of RECELL GO, which is CE-marked in Europe and the U.K. and has recently received regulatory authorization in Australia and New Zealand.
First U.K. Clinical Experience Demonstrates Positive Burn Care Outcomes
The presentation, titled “First U.K. Clinical Experience of RECELL GO, an Automated Autologous Cell Harvesting Device, in Burn Surgery: A Case Series,” evaluated 17 patients treated at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, one of the United Kingdom’s leading specialist burn centers. RECELL GO was used across multiple burn and reconstructive surgical procedures, including patients with large and deep wounds, facial burns, and higher Fitzpatrick skin types, where both functional recovery and cosmetic outcomes are critical. All patients successfully received RECELL Spray-On Skin Cells, either as a standalone treatment or combined with meshed split-thickness skin grafts, with investigators reporting complete graft take, uncomplicated donor-site healing, and successful hospital discharge without complications.
Automated RECELL GO Improves Surgical Workflow and Standardization
According to investigators, RECELL GO delivers significant operational benefits by automating and standardizing the preparation of autologous Spray-On Skin Cells, reducing procedural variability while improving consistency across treatments. The automated system integrates seamlessly into existing surgical practice and allows clinical staff to focus on other critical tasks during cell preparation, improving operating room efficiency and reducing training complexity. Researchers concluded that RECELL GO may expand access to advanced autologous cell therapies by simplifying point-of-care preparation while maintaining the proven clinical benefits associated with RECELL technology.
Global Expansion Supported by Growing Clinical Evidence
The U.K. presentation represents another milestone in the global expansion of RECELL GO, following its CE Mark approval in Europe and the United Kingdom, regulatory authorization in Australia and New Zealand, and continued clinical use of RECELL in the United States, where it is FDA-approved for treating thermal burns and full-thickness skin defects. During the same British Burn Association Annual Meeting, investigators also presented a systematic review of 99 clinical studies involving more than 8,000 patients across 13 countries, concluding that RECELL is a safe, effective, and evidence-based wound management technology with broad applicability across burn care and reconstructive surgery. These findings further reinforce AVITA Medical’s position in advancing innovative regenerative wound healing technologies for global burn care.
