MannKind Corporation and Rose Pharma Inc. have entered into a licensing and collaboration agreement to develop and commercialize an investigational inhaled, rapid-acting and short-duration GLP-1 therapy for weight management. The partnership combines Rose Pharma’s novel inhaled GLP-1 program with MannKind’s Technosphere® inhalation technology and manufacturing capabilities, creating a potential alternative delivery approach to injectable and longer-acting GLP-1 medicines. The companies will initially focus on advancing the program through clinical development while evaluating its potential to provide rapid and flexible GLP-1 activity for patients seeking weight-management treatment.
Companies Combine GLP-1 Drug and Inhalation Technology
Under the agreement, Rose Pharma will contribute its proprietary short-duration GLP-1 program, while MannKind will provide its Technosphere platform and expertise in inhaled pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. The collaboration is intended to leverage the companies’ complementary capabilities to develop a therapy that can potentially deliver a GLP-1 receptor agonist through the lungs rather than by injection.
