WATERTOWN, Mass., August 6, 2026
LifeMine Therapeutics has secured $263 million in financing to accelerate the clinical development of LIFE-001, its first-in-class calcineurin activation inhibitor (CNai) designed to prevent organ transplant rejection while addressing the toxicity limitations associated with traditional calcineurin inhibitors. The financing package includes an oversubscribed $188 million Series E round led by Milky Way Investments, along with $75 million from a previously completed Series D financing. The funding will support ongoing Phase 1 clinical development, planned Phase 2 kidney transplant studies, and a Phase 1b islet cell transplant trial expected to begin in early 2027. The company also strengthened its executive leadership with the appointment of Yves Zinggeler as Chief Commercial Officer, positioning LifeMine for future commercialization.
LIFE-001 Demonstrates Potential Best-in-Class Clinical Profile
LIFE-001 represents a structurally and mechanistically novel immunosuppressive therapy engineered to directly inhibit calcineurin activation without relying on immunophilin proteins, a mechanism intended to eliminate the kidney, metabolic, and cardiovascular toxicities commonly associated with legacy therapies such as cyclosporin, tacrolimus, and voclosporin. According to ongoing Phase 1 single ascending dose and multiple ascending dose studies involving more than 120 adult participants, the investigational therapy has demonstrated a favorable safety and tolerability profile, with no clinically meaningful renal, metabolic, or cardiovascular safety signals observed to date. Delivered as a long-acting injectable, LIFE-001 is designed to improve patient convenience while maintaining effective prevention of organ transplant rejection.
Major Investment Supports Next Phase of Clinical Expansion
The newly raised capital attracted participation from prominent investors including Bezos Expeditions, Gates Frontier, RA Capital Management, GV (Google Ventures), ARCH Venture Partners, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Invus, and LoLa Capital Partners, highlighting strong confidence in LifeMine’s innovative drug discovery platform. Company executives noted that calcineurin inhibition remains the gold standard for preventing transplant rejection, but current therapies continue to cause significant long-term organ toxicity. LifeMine believes LIFE-001 has the potential to redefine transplant medicine by delivering proven immunosuppressive efficacy while significantly improving long-term safety, tolerability, and dosing convenience. The financing will enable rapid progression into pivotal clinical development while expanding the company’s broader pipeline in transplantation and immunology.
Novel Drug Discovery Platform Drives Future Pipeline Growth
Beyond advancing LIFE-001, the financing further validates LifeMine’s proprietary Top-Down Drug Discoveryâ„¢ platform, which combines digital genomic search technology, fungal biology, machine learning, synthetic biology, and human genetics to identify next-generation precision medicines with entirely new mechanisms of action. Company leadership believes LIFE-001 serves as the first major clinical validation of this discovery engine and could pave the way for additional innovative therapies across immunology and transplantation. With Phase 2 kidney transplant and Phase 1b islet cell transplant studies scheduled for early 2027, alongside continued expansion of its leadership team, LifeMine is positioning itself to become a significant innovator in transplant medicine while addressing one of the field’s longest-standing unmet clinical needs through safer, more effective immunosuppressive therapies.
