Dublin, Ireland, October 8, 2026
Keenova Therapeutics plc has announced three presentations focused on men’s sexual health at the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) Annual Meeting, taking place October 8–11, 2026. Two presentations will examine clinical studies and real-world treatment experience involving XIAFLEX® (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) for men with Peyronie’s disease, including those with ventral penile curvature. A third presentation will highlight a clinician-patient communication resource called the Men’s Sexual Health Screener, designed to support the assessment and discussion of sexual health concerns in healthcare settings. The presentations aim to share clinical evidence and practical tools with healthcare professionals involved in men’s sexual health care.
XIAFLEX Research Focuses on Peyronie’s Disease
Two of Keenova’s presentations will address the use of XIAFLEX as a nonsurgical treatment option for eligible men with Peyronie’s disease, a condition characterized by fibrous scar tissue, known as plaque, that causes the penis to curve. The condition can cause discomfort during erections and intimacy and may affect quality of life. Despite its impact, diagnosis rates remain low, partly because some men feel uncomfortable discussing symptoms with healthcare professionals. The first presentation, titled Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum for Ventral Curvature of the Penis Due to Peyronie’s Disease: Subgroup Analysis of a Multicenter Retrospective Phase 4 Observational Study, will examine a subgroup of patients with ventral curvature. The second presentation, titled Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum for Ventral Curvature of the Penis Due to Peyronie’s Disease: Literature Review of Real-World and Multicenter Phase 4 Outcomes, will review real-world evidence and outcomes from multicenter Phase 4 studies.
Together, these presentations will focus on clinical experience with XIAFLEX in a specific patient population and contribute to discussions about nonsurgical management of Peyronie’s disease. The announcement identifies the study designs and presentation topics but does not provide detailed efficacy results or numerical outcomes from the analyses. XIAFLEX is indicated for adult men with Peyronie’s disease who have a palpable plaque and penile curvature of at least 30 degrees at the start of treatment. The medicine is administered by injection into the plaque by appropriately trained healthcare professionals under the product’s prescribing requirements. The treatment also carries important safety risks. These include corporal rupture, also known as penile fracture, and other serious penile injuries. XIAFLEX is available for Peyronie’s disease through a restricted Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program. Patient selection, administration technique, and safety monitoring are therefore important considerations in clinical practice.
Men’s Sexual Health Screener Supports Clinical Conversations
Keenova’s third presentation will focus on the qualitative development of a brief, integrated screening tool designed to help identify concerns involving Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, and low testosterone. The presentation, titled Qualitative Development of a Brief, Integrated, Patient- and Provider-Informed Screening Tool for Peyronie’s Disease, Erectile Dysfunction, and Low Testosterone, examines the development of a resource intended to support communication between patients and healthcare providers. Sexual health conditions may go unreported when patients feel uncomfortable raising sensitive symptoms during appointments. A structured screening resource could help clinicians initiate conversations, identify concerns requiring further assessment, and guide discussions about appropriate next steps. The tool is designed to facilitate assessment and communication rather than replace clinical evaluation or establish a diagnosis on its own. Jesse Mills, MD, Clinical Professor and Director of the Men’s Clinic at UCLA Health, is the lead author associated with the announced presentations. Mills emphasized the importance of combining effective treatment options with practical resources that help clinicians identify patient concerns and support informed treatment decisions.
Keenova Highlights Evidence-Based Men’s Health Care
The three presentations reflect Keenova’s focus on urology and specialty therapeutics, with an emphasis on treatment evidence and tools that may improve clinical conversations. The company develops branded therapies for rare and underserved conditions across several specialty areas, including urology, neurology, ophthalmology, nephrology, and orthopedics. By presenting research on XIAFLEX alongside work on a men’s sexual health screening resource, Keenova is bringing together treatment-related evidence and approaches to identifying unmet patient needs. The meeting provides an opportunity for researchers and healthcare professionals to review the presented work and discuss its potential relevance to clinical practice. The announcement does not establish new regulatory approvals or changes to XIAFLEX’s approved indication. Instead, it highlights the company’s plans to share clinical and real-world evidence and screening-tool development at the annual meeting.
