IQVIA announced the launch of IQVIA Predictive Clinical Development, an AI-powered approach designed to help life sciences sponsors reduce avoidable delays and potentially bring new therapies to patients up to two years faster. The platform combines IQVIA’s proprietary clinical development data, regulatory expertise and Healthcare-grade AI® with technologies from Anthropic, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Databricks, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Palantir and Snowflake to support AI-enabled and agentic workflows across the clinical development lifecycle..
Predictive Clinical Development Targets Major Trial Bottlenecks
IQVIA reported that its Predictive Clinical Development approach has demonstrated several operational efficiencies, including 33% faster study startup, 1.7 times more patients recruited from AI-prioritized and Prime & Partner sites, 42% higher enrollment rates, 50% faster data cleaning and 45% or greater reductions in time between trial phases. The approach is intended to address increasing clinical trial complexity and improve the predictability of development timelines. By applying predictive analytics and AI across trial planning and execution, IQVIA aims to help sponsors make faster operational decisions while maintaining the quality and reliability required for clinical research.
AI Tools Support Clinical Trial Planning and Execution
The platform includes several AI-enabled capabilities designed to improve different stages of clinical development. The Clinical Design & Planning Suite generates predictive insights for site selection, prioritizes clinical trial sites and supports recruitment strategy development. Push Button Start-Up combines standardization, automation and AI-enabled processes to accelerate activities required before patient enrollment begins. Real-time Data Cleaning brings clinical data together from multiple sources and uses AI-enabled processes to identify and resolve data issues more efficiently, supporting faster and more reliable database locks and clinical decision-making.
IQVIA Expands AI Across Clinical Development
IQVIA Predictive Clinical Development represents a broader expansion of artificial intelligence into clinical research operations, with the company positioning AI as a tool for reducing operational delays throughout the development lifecycle. IQVIA said additional components will continue to be added as its AI capabilities develop, with the goal of helping sponsors move from scientific discovery to patient care more efficiently. The approach combines clinical data, advanced analytics, regulatory expertise and AI technologies rather than relying on AI as a standalone solution, potentially allowing sponsors to integrate predictive insights into existing clinical development workflows.
