RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — October 7, 2026
IQVIA (NYSE: IQV), a global provider of clinical research services, commercial insights and healthcare intelligence, announced the launch of IQVIA Life Science Models™ at TechIQ 2026 to help life sciences companies predict clinical trial outcomes and optimize study design. The new suite combines IQVIA’s proprietary expert content and life sciences expertise with artificial intelligence technologies to support predictive applications across clinical development. Built using technologies including NVIDIA Nemotron™ and supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, the models connect molecular and treatment information with patient journeys and clinical outcomes.
Initial Evaluation Shows Promising Prediction Accuracy
IQVIA Life Science Models support clinical study simulation and protocol optimization, including endpoint selection, patient eligibility criteria, dose selection and sample size planning. In an initial evaluation covering 50 clinical trials and 270 endpoints, 85% of predictions were on target or clinically close, according to IQVIA. By enabling teams to assess key assumptions and identify potential risks before a study begins, the models are designed to help sponsors make more informed development decisions and allocate resources more effectively.
Digital Twins and Synthetic Controls Support Study Design
The models also support the development of digital twins and synthetic controls, which can help researchers explore alternative clinical study designs and evaluate potential outcomes. These capabilities are intended to improve planning efficiency and help sponsors understand clinical development risks earlier. IQVIA said the models can also use clinical study predictions to inform real-world planning and access strategies, extending their potential application beyond protocol development.
AI Expands IQVIA’s Predictive Clinical Development Strategy
IQVIA Life Science Models extend the company’s Predictive Clinical Development approach, enabling sponsors to simulate studies and test critical assumptions before executing trials. Pete Groves, executive vice president of AI and Technology Solutions at IQVIA, said the models can help customers anticipate outcomes, focus resources, accelerate the delivery of new therapies and improve trial success. The company emphasized that the models are built within established regulatory, compliance and patient privacy frameworks. The launch reflects IQVIA’s broader strategy to apply healthcare-grade AI, advanced analytics and life sciences expertise to clinical development while maintaining safeguards for responsible AI use.
