Harrow (Nasdaq: HROW), a leading provider of ophthalmic disease management solutions in North America, announced the presentation of three new clinical and real-world studies supporting IHEEZO® (chloroprocaine HCl ophthalmic gel 3%) and BYOOVIZ® (ranibizumab-nuna) during the American Society for Retina Specialists (ASRS) 2026 Annual Meeting. The new findings expand the growing body of evidence supporting Harrow’s retina portfolio and reinforce the company’s strategy of generating high-quality clinical data to strengthen physician confidence, improve patient experience, and encourage long-term adoption of innovative ophthalmic therapies. The presentations demonstrate Harrow’s continued investment in retinal disease management, highlighting advances in ocular anesthesia and biosimilar anti-VEGF therapy while supporting the company’s commitment to evidence-based innovation.
Randomized Study Demonstrates Encouraging Results for IHEEZO
One of the featured presentations highlighted interim findings from a prospective, randomized clinical study involving 150 patients, comparing IHEEZO with traditional subconjunctival lidocaine during intravitreal injections. The preliminary analysis showed encouraging trends toward lower post-procedure pain, improved patient comfort, and fewer ocular symptoms within the first 24 hours after treatment in patients receiving IHEEZO. Investigators believe these early observations support further evaluation in larger patient populations. Harrow also confirmed continued enrollment in the QUELL Phase clinical study, a prospective, randomized, multicenter trial enrolling approximately 236 subjects under an active Investigational New Drug (IND) application. The study is designed to generate comprehensive evidence evaluating pain reduction, procedural performance, patient experience, and safety, with topline results expected during the fourth quarter of 2026. According to Harrow, QUELL will provide the largest and most comprehensive clinical assessment of IHEEZO in retina care to date.
Real-World Evidence Supports Safety While BYOOVIZ Gains Momentum
Additional research presented at ASRS evaluated the safety of IHEEZO’s proprietary low-viscosity ophthalmic gel formulation during routine intravitreal injection procedures. In a retrospective real-world analysis covering nearly 20,000 injections, investigators observed no increase in endophthalmitis risk when IHEEZO was used alongside chlorhexidine antisepsis compared with conventional tetracaine and povidone-iodine preparation methods. These findings provide further confidence that physicians can utilize IHEEZO’s patient-friendly gel formulation without compromising procedural safety. Meanwhile, Samsung Bioepis presented interim findings from a large-scale post-marketing surveillance study evaluating BYOOVIZ, Harrow’s FDA-approved biosimilar referencing LUCENTIS® (ranibizumab). The growing real-world evidence supports BYOOVIZ’s expanding role in the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal vein occlusion (RVO), and myopic choroidal neovascularization (mCNV), further strengthening physician confidence in biosimilar adoption across retina practices.
