Harbour BioMed and BioMap have announced a long-term strategic partnership to launch MegaStream TechBio, a next-generation AI-native drug discovery and development company focused on advancing complex biologics for global markets. The collaboration combines Harbour BioMed’s proprietary antibody discovery technologies, extensive biologics datasets and clinical development expertise with BioMap’s industry-leading life science foundation models and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Through the creation of MegaStream TechBio, the partners aim to establish a globally competitive, AI-powered research ecosystem capable of accelerating the development of First-in-Class (FIC) and Best-in-Class (BIC) therapies targeting major disease areas including cardiovascular, renal, oncology and anti-aging medicine. The initiative represents one of the most ambitious efforts to integrate large-scale AI models, proprietary biologics datasets and automated laboratory systems into a unified drug discovery platform.
AI-Powered Platform Designed to Transform Complex Biologics Development
At the core of MegaStream TechBio is an integrated ecosystem combining exclusive biological datasets, advanced AI foundation models and a large-scale innovative therapeutic pipeline. The platform will utilize BioMap’s xTrimo life science foundation model, which contains 268 billion parameters and has demonstrated state-of-the-art performance across hundreds of biological prediction tasks. Combined with Harbour BioMed’s proprietary Harbour Mice® fully human antibody platform, the partnership aims to create a dedicated AI engine optimized specifically for next-generation biologics.
The platform will support the design and development of advanced therapeutic modalities including multispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), in vivo CAR-T therapies and inhaled or oral biologics. By leveraging AI-driven molecular design and predictive modeling, MegaStream seeks to overcome many of the scientific and operational challenges that traditionally slow biologics discovery and development. The partners believe this approach will significantly improve candidate quality, accelerate timelines and increase the probability of clinical success.
Next-Generation Dry-Wet Laboratory Targets Major Efficiency Gains
A key component of the collaboration is the creation of an advanced AI-native dry-wet closed-loop discovery laboratory designed to automate and optimize every stage of biologics research. By integrating Harbour BioMed’s experimental capabilities with BioMap’s AI-driven discovery platform, the companies aim to establish a highly intelligent Design-Build-Test-Learn (DBTL) ecosystem capable of continuously generating and refining biological data. The laboratory will feature automated experimental validation, high-throughput data generation, comprehensive analytical systems and continuous AI model improvement.
According to the companies, the platform is projected to achieve more than 500% efficiency gains compared with traditional discovery systems, while increasing biological data accumulation rates by over tenfold. Within five years, MegaStream expects to generate more than 5 petabytes of AI-ready life science data, creating a powerful feedback loop that continually enhances model performance and discovery capabilities. Such advancements could significantly accelerate the identification and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates across multiple disease areas.
Building a Global Pipeline of AI-Designed Therapeutics
The launch of MegaStream builds on collaborations between Harbour BioMed and BioMap that began in 2021 and have already supported more than ten AI-enabled drug discovery programs. The new platform is expected to dramatically expand development capacity, enabling the simultaneous advancement of hundreds of innovative biologics programs. Rather than relying primarily on traditional high-volume screening approaches, MegaStream will utilize generative AI models and targeted validation strategies to create highly optimized therapeutic candidates with enhanced efficacy, developability and manufacturability profiles. The founding partners will also benefit from milestone-based economics, royalties and potential commercialization opportunities generated by the platform.
Industry experts increasingly view AI-enabled biologics discovery as a critical next step in pharmaceutical innovation, and MegaStream positions both Harbour BioMed and BioMap at the forefront of this transformation.
