GE HealthCare announced three additions to its Vivid™ cardiovascular ultrasound portfolio — Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus — designed to support different cardiovascular imaging and workflow needs across care settings. The new systems are built on the company’s cSound™ software-based imaging architecture and incorporate advanced 2D, 4D, multi-plane and cardiac imaging capabilities, along with AI-enabled workflow and automation tools. Vivid Explorer is positioned for high-volume echo laboratories and routine interventional procedures, Vivid Advanced for mid-size hospitals and cardiology practices requiring comprehensive cardiac imaging, and Vivid Focus for everyday cardiac imaging with a more streamlined system. The three systems join the existing ultra-premium Vivid Pioneer and are being showcased at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress 2026 in Munich. The systems have received CE Mark, while U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance remains pending and the products are not currently available for sale in the United States.
GE HealthCare Expands Vivid Portfolio Across Cardiovascular Care Settings
The new Vivid portfolio is designed to address different clinical environments while maintaining a common technology and user-experience foundation. Vivid Explorer targets high-volume echo laboratories and routine interventional procedures, offering advanced 4D, multi-plane and 2D imaging across transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and intracardiac echocardiography (ICE), supported by AI and workflow automation. Vivid Advanced is designed for busy mid-size hospitals and cardiology practices, combining comprehensive cardiac imaging with vascular, abdominal and soft-tissue imaging. Vivid Focus brings cSound imaging technology to a system intended for everyday cardiac imaging and includes the new 4Sc-RS probe, AI-enabled workflow tools and additional general imaging capabilities. Together, the systems broaden GE HealthCare’s cardiovascular ultrasound offering beyond the existing Vivid Pioneer platform and provide options tailored to different levels of clinical complexity and workflow requirements.
cSound and AI Tools Aim to Streamline Cardiac Imaging
A key element of the new systems is GE HealthCare’s cSound imaging architecture, which uses software-based processing to support contrast, resolution and tissue visualization across the Vivid family. The systems also incorporate AI-enabled and automated tools designed to reduce manual steps during echocardiography. These include AI Auto Measure 2D, Easy AutoEF, Easy AFI LV and AI Cardiac Auto Doppler, which can assist clinicians with measurements such as ejection fraction and support more consistent examination workflows. GE HealthCare is also extending the platform through EchoPAC Software Only v211, an advanced cardiovascular ultrasound analysis and reporting solution designed to allow clinicians to review, analyze and quantify studies remotely or on-site using consistent tools across acquisition, analysis and reporting. The combination of imaging hardware, software and AI capabilities represents GE HealthCare’s broader effort to integrate cardiovascular imaging and workflow tools across the care pathway.

New Vivid Systems Strengthen GE HealthCare’s Cardiovascular Imaging Strategy
The launch expands GE HealthCare’s cardiovascular ultrasound portfolio at a time when demand for cardiovascular diagnostics continues to grow globally. The company will showcase the Vivid systems alongside other cardiovascular technologies at ESC Congress 2026, including Revolution Vibe CT, MUSE NX, Vscan Air SL with AI-enabled cardiopulmonary capabilities, ComboLab AltiX AI.i and ViewPoint 6 powered by EchoPAC. The new Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus systems have received CE Mark, enabling commercialization in applicable European markets, while U.S. FDA 510(k) review is still pending. EchoPAC Software Only v211 is also pending U.S. regulatory clearance. For the medical-device market, the significance of the announcement is primarily the expansion of GE HealthCare’s cardiac ultrasound platform across routine, comprehensive and interventional care environments, rather than a new regulatory approval in the United States. The common Vivid technology foundation could also help health systems standardize imaging workflows across different levels of cardiovascular care.
