Cumulus Neuroscience announced a strategic collaboration with Muse by Interaxon to integrate validated at-home sleep electroencephalography (EEG) technology into its AI-powered NeuLogiq® platform. The collaboration introduces objective, brain-based sleep measurement to NeuLogiq’s multi-modal digital biomarker suite for central nervous system (CNS) clinical trials, with the integrated platform set to debut at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2026 in London from July 12–15. The partnership aims to enhance decentralized clinical research by enabling scalable, home-based monitoring of sleep alongside cognition, wake EEG, mood, and speech.
Home-Based Sleep EEG Enables Objective Biomarker Collection at Scale
Sleep disturbances are widely recognized as both a symptom and a contributor to the progression of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders, making sleep an increasingly valuable therapeutic target and clinical biomarker. Through the collaboration, NeuLogiq’s sleep domain will leverage the Muse wearable EEG device, which directly measures brain activity to identify sleep stages by detecting slow waves, sleep spindles, and K-complexes. According to validation data, the system achieves 88% to 96% agreement with gold-standard polysomnography (PSG) while allowing participants to complete assessments from home. The approach is designed to reduce patient burden, support repeated longitudinal assessments, and provide high-quality data for decentralized CNS clinical trials.
Collaboration Supports Alzheimer’s Disease and Neuropsychiatric Drug Development
The integrated platform addresses growing interest in sleep as a measurable biomarker in Alzheimer’s disease and other CNS disorders, where disrupted deep sleep has been associated with impaired amyloid clearance and cognitive decline. By combining objective sleep EEG with digital assessments of cognition, mood, speech, and wake brain activity, NeuLogiq aims to provide pharmaceutical sponsors with more comprehensive datasets to support clinical decision-making. Company executives noted that the collaboration will help accelerate CNS drug development by enabling reliable, real-world data collection outside traditional clinical settings while improving participant convenience.
Partnership Strengthens Digital Biomarker Innovation for Decentralized Clinical Trials
The collaboration combines Cumulus Neuroscience’s AI-driven digital biomarker platform with Muse’s extensive experience in consumer and clinical EEG technology, supported by more than 16.8 million recorded sessions across over 500,000 users. Muse’s technology has also been evaluated in more than 200 independent scientific studies, supporting its use in clinical research. The companies believe the integration represents another step toward expanding objective neurological measurements in decentralized trials and advancing precision assessment tools for Alzheimer’s disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and broader CNS therapeutic development.
