Cologne, March 16, 2026
LANXESS announced its participation at the in-cosmetics Global 2026, scheduled from April 14 to 16 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles (Booth 3D60), where the specialty chemicals company will present a comprehensive portfolio of cosmetic preservation solutions, sustainable ingredients, and formulation technologies for the personal care industry.
Advanced Preservation Systems for Cosmetic Safety
At the core of LANXESS’ showcase is its innovative preservation technology, designed to ensure microbial control, product stability, and extended shelf life in cosmetic formulations. The company highlighted its well-established phenoxyethanol-based preservative systems, including Neolone PH 100, which delivers broad-spectrum antibacterial protection and maintains high stability across varying pH and temperature conditions.
A key innovation is Neolone PH Max, an advanced preservative combining phenoxyethanol with naturally derived pelargonic acid from sunflower oil, offering enhanced protection against bacteria and fungi. This formulation also provides chelating and antioxidant properties, improving overall product performance and enabling flexible use across a wide pH range (3–10). Additionally, Solbrol PEH, a blend of ethylhexylglycerin and phenoxyethanol, ensures effective antifungal activity and compatibility with diverse cosmetic formulations, including skin care, hair care, and color cosmetics.
Sustainable Ingredients Driving Green Formulations
Responding to growing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable cosmetic ingredients, LANXESS introduced Purox S Scopeblue, a next-generation preservative based on sodium benzoate with a significantly reduced carbon footprint. Produced using renewable raw materials and non-fossil energy, this ingredient aligns with the company’s Scopeblue label, indicating at least 50% lower CO₂ emissions or high sustainable content.
LANXESS also emphasized its broader portfolio of sustainable multifunctional ingredients, including Purolan PD-LO, a pentanediol-based humectant and antimicrobial booster, and its plant-based alternative Purolan PD-LO Natural. These ingredients enhance preservation systems while supporting moisturization and formulation efficiency. Another highlight, PUROLAN TEC-I, derived from citric acid and ethanol, is COSMOS and NATRUE certified and functions as a deodorant active, fragrance carrier, and film-forming agent, demonstrating versatility across personal care applications.
Lifecycle Analysis and Global Manufacturing Excellence
A major scientific highlight of the event will be a technical seminar titled “Life Cycle Analyses Calculation for Cosmetic Preservatives – Challenges and Key Learnings”, presented by Dr. Matthias Kunze on April 15. The session will focus on advanced lifecycle assessment (LCA) methodologies, enabling more accurate evaluation of environmental impact beyond carbon footprint metrics.
LANXESS also reinforced its global manufacturing and quality capabilities, operating production sites across Europe, Asia, and the United States. These facilities are ISCC PLUS certified and utilize the mass balance approach to integrate sustainable raw materials while maintaining product performance. The company’s commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated through reduced Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, supported by renewable energy adoption and verified Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculations in accordance with ISO 14067 standards and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) guidelines.
Through its subsidiary Saltigo, LANXESS also offers custom manufacturing services, including process development, scale-up production, and regulatory support, ensuring high-quality active ingredient production for various industries, including cosmetics and personal care.
