Codis announced an agreement to acquire Catalent Pharma Solutions’ Nottingham, UK facility, a strategic transaction that will significantly expand the company’s contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) capabilities across Europe. Subject to customary closing conditions, the acquisition is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026. The addition of the Nottingham site will provide oral solid dose (OSD) development and small-scale commercial manufacturing capabilities, enabling Codis to offer a fully integrated spray drying platform spanning formulation development, clinical supply, commercial intermediates, and final oral dosage forms.
Nottingham Facility Adds Decades of Scientific and Manufacturing Expertise
The Nottingham facility brings more than two decades of experience in formulation development, development-scale spray drying, clinical supply manufacturing, and oral solid dose development. The site has established expertise in supporting pharmaceutical development programs and will strengthen Codis’ capabilities in particle engineering and bioavailability enhancement. The acquisition also includes an experienced scientific and manufacturing team, further expanding Codis’ technical expertise in developing poorly soluble small-molecule drug candidates.
Acquisition Complements Major Commercial Expansion in Haverhill
The transaction strategically complements Codis’ ongoing expansion of its Haverhill, UK manufacturing facility, where a new GEA Pharma-SD® PSD-4 commercial spray dryer is scheduled for validation in 2027. Together, the Nottingham and Haverhill sites will provide integrated formulation development, analytical services, clinical manufacturing, and commercial-scale spray drying within a unified quality system. By combining development and commercial manufacturing capabilities under one organization, Codis aims to simplify technology transfer while reducing development timelines and manufacturing risks for pharmaceutical partners.
