This distinction allows the new facility to focus specifically on research, innovation, and development programs while the company’s established clinical laboratory continues its diagnostic testing operations. Located near CND Life Sciences’ headquarters and central laboratory operations in Scottsdale, the Innovation Laboratory is intended to bring together scientific, product-development, operational, and leadership teams. According to the company, this proximity will support collaboration and provide researchers with access to infrastructure and technical resources needed to advance new scientific programs. The company said the laboratory will begin operations the following week after its September 17 opening. A major focus of the Innovation Laboratory will be the development and evaluation of neurodiagnostic technologies and biomarkers. CND Life Sciences is known for its Syn-One Test®, a laboratory developed test used to aid clinicians in the diagnostic evaluation of patients with suspected synucleinopathies, including Parkinson’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, and multiple system atrophy. The test uses skin biopsies to detect phosphorylated alpha-synuclein in cutaneous nerves while also evaluating other indicators of peripheral nerve degeneration. CND reports that more than 3,500 clinicians have used the Syn-One Test in the diagnostic evaluation of more than 70,000 patients. The company also collaborates with biopharmaceutical companies on clinical trials involving investigational therapies and is conducting research into early disease detection and synuclein quantification. These activities create potential applications for the Innovation Laboratory in both diagnostic development and biomarker research.
The company’s broader research strategy includes examining pathological signals in skin tissue that may provide objective insights into neurological disease.
